We thoroughly enjoyed our tour of Pacific Heights and other neighborhoods with tour guide Jay. What impressed us the most is that it was great for anyone: first time or returning visitor; someone with no, little, or even quite a bit of knowledge of home architecture; and, a hardy hiker or one needing a pretty easy walk through a city... Thank you so much for taking and enjoying our tour. You make a great point that the tour really is fun for everyone, not just Victorian home buffs. There is a great mix of history, architecture, amazing homes and vista points to enjoy. While we'd love to take all the credit, San Francisco provides an amazing backdrop for our guides... More

We have been to SF many times, but never gotten to know the details of the neighborhoods. We found Jay's flier at our hotel and called him to arrange the walk - and we were glad that we did. Jay is a very knowledgeable and gracious guide. He took plenty of time to explain what we were going to do,... More

For both repeat visitors and first-timers to SF, this is an excellent way to see and learn. (And I'm a tour guide, so I know a great guide when I'm with one.) For days afterwards, I was sharing with my convention-bound husband the information I'd learned from Jay's tour about city history, architecture, restoration, landscape, etc. Recommended for both those... Jay's been giving this tour for 15 years now and his knowledge of the history of SF and the architecture of Victorians is amazing. He delivers a great amount of info with wonderful enthusiasm and humor. I live locally and learned a ton about the city. I would highly recommend this tour to visitors and locals alike. I especially appreciate... More

I went on this tour a couple days ago and was really surprised with all the interesting facts Jay gave us. Jay is an engaging guide that could answer any question thrown his way, he's watched the renewal of San Francisco first hand. It's well worth spending a couple of hours with Jay, there aren't any overwhelming hills to climb... More

Jay is a top-notch tour guide and local expert. He is not only a wealth of great information but a real pleasure to talk to and to hear as he guides you through the most fabulous part of the city. We had a great time and it was the highlight of our week in San Francisco!!! I would recommend this... More

I have taken walking tours in Rome, Barcelona, and other major cities, and this one is top-notch. It combines a history of the city with stories of the evolution of its residential architecture. It is thoughtfully designed to avoid the strenuous hills of the city, while covering buildings from Japantown to Pacific Heights. Our guide, Jay, is passionate about the... More

Taking a couple of hours to walk around one of the prettiest neighborhoods in San Francisco, while being treated to fascinating facts about Victorian architecture - well, it just doesn't get much better! Our tour guide, Marilyn, was so thoughtful about giving us just the right amount of information, while keeping it light and moving. No big hills on this... More

I took this tour with my mother--we both really enjoyed the views and the stories that Marilyn used to give the histories of several of the homes. The tour involved a short bus ride and walk that only had 2 downhill and 2 slight uphill portions, which is great for San Francisco! The tour included learning about the history of... More
