An impressive collection of flowers, shrubs and trees, as well as an extensive Bonsai collection in a beautiful, tranquil setting. What's more it only costs $8 for parking. Nice stuff in the gift shop, and a free glass of home-made lemonade, too. We spent about 90 minutes there but you could spend a day if you hike the extensive trails.

Wow, this place was awesome. Quiet, secluded, a MASSIVE bonsai display made it worth while. Put on top of that dozens of fountains, trails, exhibits, and you've got yourself a good time! Really a nice place to visit and I am so glad I went!

The gardens and paths are well-maintained, with many of the plantings labelled. (I'd love it if more were identified.) We especially enjoyed the shade gardens and the bonsai area, where a volunteer educated us on the art. The beautiful gates and sculpture throughout add to the experience, and the gift shop had a wide selection of quality items related to... More

Make the Arboretum a stop when you visit Asheville. The grounds and plantings are spectacular. The Arboretum has the largest collection of Bonsai in North America.

As inveterate NC master gardeners, my husband and I expected to find a cornucopia of native plants as well as ornamentals that can grow in our state in this arboretum. But instead of putting money into plants and gardens, they have constructed multiple big beautiful buildings and fountains. The biggest area with any plants was for its bonsai collection. Parking... Looking for things to do in the area? This is the place to be if the weather permits and you want to do a bit of walking. the landscaping is beautiful and the trails are quite lengthy, so that if you want, you can spend the day hiking. We were very impressed on our visit and thought that the time... More

This place is absolutely beautiful and only costs $8 to park. Wear sneakers, go off on some of the trails and enjoy nature. My husband and I debated on going to the Biltmore, but it is so pricey- we opted to go here instead to enjoy the gardens. It was so lovely! I would love to go back.

The Arboretum was well worth the admittance fee, we especially enjoyed the hiking trails that lead from one area to another.

We thoroughly enjoyed the bonsai display and the more formal plantings, but found the best part was just being able to walk in the woods and by the creek. The trails are very well maintained and quite easy, plus they are cool on a hot day. This is a lovely spot to spend a couple of hours.
