In the summer, ride the bus down to the Monument. it is a relatively short and easy hike to the postpile ... well worth it. Make sure that you get the view from the bottom and go to the top of the pile for a great viww too. Most times, there will be a ranger to assist you with info... More

If you are anywhere in the area, go see Devil's Postpile National Monument. The hike to and from the base (viewing area) is easy; a little bit of uphill hiking is required to get on top of the Postpile. Overall, a very neat geological formation.

An amazing geologic formation. Make sure you hike on top because it's an unusual view from the top of the pile. But there are beautiful trails all about this national monument. In the summer, there is a shuttle from Mammoth Mountain Inn that starts up after Memorial Day through Labor Day with a small fee attached. It would be so... More

What a small hike to get to the devils post pile! You walk along this well made up trail (trail is wide and without a lot of bumps. I saw a gentleman in a wheel chair cruising along the trail and I thought "wow, this trail is smooth enough for a wheel chair" however beware there is an up hill... More

The hikes are second to none, especially when you head up towards the Minaret's. There are really no services down there other than one store and one cafe, so be prepared. Go to Rainbow Falls early in the season when the water is running fast and high, and you won't regret it! Enjoy!

Very interesting formation. Don't think I would drive a long way to see it though. If you're in the area, you should definitely take the time to see this.

A great thing to see, although it is quite a steep walk if you want to go on top and see them from above. There are some nice walks in the area too, so worth paying the admission to go into the park.

Never have we seen such a strange thing in nature, lava wich is flued at first then cools down and forms these really awesome shapes ..... it takes a while to get there, but it is worth the trip. A shuttle bus will get you there, so plan your trip ahead, don't rush it, you won't be sorry ....

OK - yes it is geologically interesting and worth the walk from the Ranger Station ( do it with the guide though - they can tell you so much about the nature flora and fauna of the area). But...... be aware that in July and August it is incredible hot and at high altitude (over 7000 feet) it can be... More

This is a must see! Take the hike and find a park ranger that can explain how the monument was formed. Amazing.
