My favorite restaurant here is the Helmand which has a wonderful pumpkin appetizer. I have seen wonderful concerts at the peabody for as little as $10/ticket and there is also An De Musik which is a much more private venue for enjoying live chamber music

This is the part of Baltimore that still maintains old-city charm with beautiful architecture and history. With cobblestone streets and the historic Mt. Vernon Methodist Church --- the sites are really picture moments.

A nice stroll to see many historic buildings, majestic old churches, the first monument to George Washington. The shopping was nothing special but if that is what you want try below the monument closer to the inner harbor,

Mount Vernon is a neat place to visit. The museum is very well done and has a lot of neat artifacts in it. There are a lot of buildings to visit on the grounds, as well as George and Martha Washington's burial site. There is a very nice food court there for lunch/snacks. You can easily spend an afternoon here.

OK, I live here in a handsome pre-WWII high-rise. I can walk to the Peabody Conservatory, Walters Art Museum, BSO Symphony Hall, Lyric Opera, Saint Ignatius Church and Center Stage. Great architecture and restaurants! I could go on and on....

I used to live here and loved walking to work and stores. You may love the different archetecture and buildings. A bit of a quirky neighborhood, but most people live in harmony. I still have friends who live their. The area is still fun and full of all sorts of people.

You can easily know you are in a good part of town here. Almost like a park with residences and businesses within it.

This area is the jewel of Baltimore -- from the Peabody Library to the Walters Art Museum and the gardens around the monument.
