Great architecture, good shopping, great dining, southern hospitality and plenty of history. Trolley Tours are great option to see and hear about the city.

We loved walking through the tree lined streets and just looking at the beautiful homes in the historic district. Every square is a treasure......pleanty of benches for people watching, cool and quiet amongst the trees.........it's just a lovely place to see!
Okay, so I'm a writer, not a famous one, but a writer and Savannah is a paradise of inspiration, beauty, and just plain fun. I love to visit Savannah and spend hours strolling the historic district, visiting the many historic properties, and people watching. Beautiful houses and parks and museums we took one of the trolley tours which picked us up at the Galloway House to get the lay of the land and then spent a day walking the city and seeing the highlights
We love Savannah especially all the "squares" which are called parks in other cities. The people are friendly and there are many historical things to see.
Absolutely beautiful with 22 tree covered squares, and lots of glorious historic house. As with many cities, don't stray too far outside the historic district at night, but the tree cover keeps you cool through the hot sunny days. Loved it!
We went on a on/off tour, and we saw and heard a lot about the whole historic district. There are many huge, beautiful homes to see. Also the trees are so pretty with the moss hanging off them.
We enjoy just getting out and exploring Historic Savannah, It is so much fun just walking thru the area, seeing all the cool buildings, people, sights and sounds! We love it!
We used a Moon guide book and a free map to take a walking tour. Amazon also has several options to download inexpensive walking tours. It's a wonderful history lesson. Also great places to eat along the way, like Wright's Square Cafe on York St near Columbia Square and the Owens-Thomas House Museum.
It was gorgeous. Stayed on Jones Street. The city is designed around the squares. You can park the car and walk during your entire visit.
