This is not the Milwaukee County Zoo but it also doesn't require a mortgage to access. If you are in Madison, this is a must place stop. Plan for 2-3 hours. Not a whole day required- another plus with so much else to do in the city.

This zoo as been a special place for our family over the years. Seeing the displays through the eyes of our grandchildren is indeed a unique and precious experience. The organization and pristine surroundings in the center of our Capitol city is the draw for many animal lovers.

This is a gem of a little zoo which, amazingly, is still free! You can just walk right in! There is a fair amount of parking nearby, and it's right next to Vilas Beach on Lake Wingra, another little gem.

What a great zoo! Easy to find your way around, plenty to see, clean, well kept exhibits...definitely worth a visit. We look forward to visiting again!

My nephew, who was 3 and a half at the time, came for a visit to Madison and this was the perfect place to spend an afternoon. Small enough that little legs don't get too tired, and big enough to hold interest.

The Henry Vilas Zoo is always a great place to visit! It is free and has great exhibits. We always visit the prairie dogs, the red pands and Cyber, their 'new' tigher.

I am so amazed that a zoo can have so much and still be free. I have been going to this zoo since I was a child and it still amazes me that it is free. A lot of different animals to see.

We enjoyed a morning at the Henry Vilas Zoo. Free entrance and free parking!!! Just the right size zoo to spend a morning with toddlers. Everything was neat and clean. Many of the animals were out and about. We especially enjoyed watching the prarie dogs busy at work.
