Portage Glacier is a great destination to visit and enjoy a picnic with family or a special someone. The drive to the glacier is beautiful and the surrounding area is also breathtaking.

Great view from camp site with mountains nearby. Saw mother moose with calf, porcupine, coyote and eagles on hike near Glacier.

Good naturalist center and good view of the glacier. It takes a while to get there from Anchorage, but we were there in the fall and the drive was quite beautiful.

Well worth the drive from Anchorage. Absolutely stunning views even on the day we visited which was overcast. The drive down the Seward Highway is a must do when in Anchorage.

When I was a kid you didn't need the boat to see this glacier, now you do. It is a beautiful place - even in summer it will be cold. Take the boat ride and enjoy it all

Kayak or paddle the north shore of the lake (where it is legal to do so) from the turn out before the Whittier tunnel, or take the cruise... More
