The only downside is that if you're sitting close to the front the people standing block your view, but it's a great medium sized venue with lots of great places to sit. The bands that come through here are usually very good.

400 seats, all close to the stage, means plays and music acts can be enjoyed the way they should be - intimately. If you're claustrophobic, maybe it won't be your thing, but when the music is right and the sing in' is tight, VP can rock your night.
Great place for a concert. We got there early so we were up front, head to say what it was like further back, but frankly, doesn't look like there's a bad seat in the house. Nice, older theater in great shape. My only problem has nothing to do the place, but that there are no hotels within walking distance and...

Variety has been my personal favorite venue for concerts for a long time. They get really good names and a good mix of styles. Some of the performers I've seen here are: Baba Maal, God Speed! You Black Emperor, Adele, Adrian Belew, Bill Frisell, Grinderman and most recently The Residents. Not a bad seat in the house, always good sound,...

It's an old school house of about 400 seats. So, the sound is great and the sight lines are pretty straight forward. The beer lines get long but the service people behind the bar have a great attitude and move them along nicely. The smokers' alley could use some coverage for rain even if it were some umbrella's (I'm sure...

One of my favorite places to see a show because every seat is so close to the stage. The space in front of the stage is open to dance and is often packed, which makes the first row of seating unattractive to me since there is no separation between the thrashing bodies and people in seats.
Small lobby with some...

It's a great place to catch a concert. The small venue provides an excellent experience. Go plenty early to catch what little parking there is - but no worries, just catch a dinner or drink at one of the many nearby establishments. The place isn't the cleanest in the world, but hey - it's a concert:)
This is a bit of an old-school theater. It feels a little dated which just adds to it's charm. The pit is always open for standing room, the acoustics are very good, and the crowd is usually excellent. They have a very good selection of beers, and some light food. Overall, if there is a band you want to see,...

It is a treat when a big name performer plays the variety. I recommend some dinner at the yacht club before the show.
16 oz Sierra Nevadas for $4? Awesome. Nice location for concerts and can park on a side street. Have drinks at the Porter first.
