We never tire of this trail and it's options. You can make it simple and easy or much more challenging by simply going up some of the trails on the sides, and over the hills into the neighboring valleys. A favorite and longer version is to take the main (easy) trail all the way out to Tennesse Valley beach, then... More

A great walk to the ocean. Have done it for years, but now it is too impacted. Can hardly find room to walk, much less to park.

Head to the trailhead with a lot of parking. A long gentle downgrade followed by a variety of other trails splitting off, some to the South and some to the North. If you continue West several miles, you reach a lovely small, sheltered beach, which contains fire pits and a portable toilet. I believe this is more used by locals... More

It's amazing that this trailhead is only 20 miles from the heart of San Francisco and yet 15 minutes in any direction from the parking lot- peace & quiet & lush nature. Great views, a moderate workout but nothing too strenuous for older kids & able adults. There are so many different looping options I think you'd have to hike... More

Tennessee Valley Trail offers amazing views and different trails based on the duration and difficulty you are looking for in a hike. I go fairly regularly and always enjoy my time there.

this trailhead provides access to a walk-in only beach and all the trails of the Marin Headlands. Love it. Just get there early on a weekend to get a good parking spot.

For the first time visitor the trail leading down to the sea is a fabulous experience. It is probably about a mile and a half, but might be a bit more... it is easy, and bikes are ok. Weekends it will be hard to find parking, so if you can, go here during the week. I especially like to go... More

We love Tennessee Valley, as locals have walked and run it for years. Parking can be tough up at the top, but it's a wonderful walk to the ocean. Definitely a special place

The views are spectacular - pick the East Bay or the Pacific Ocean. You'll be amazed by the number of middle-aged people JOGGING up these hills (unlike us).

I found this trail based on tripadvisor reviews and am glad I did. I'm not super athletic and it was a good distance and not to strenuous and strenuous enough that it felt like a hike. One tip: you will come to a fork where there is a smaller footpath to the left and a bigger trail going uphill to... More
