Walked in while the tour speaker was talking to bout 10 of us. Cost was $7 but he said don't worry about it. He was very eloquent talking about the past and present of African Americans in Mississippi. A lot of history in Natchez and he touched on prominent people and places that had quite an important role in Natchez.... More

While it's hard to get into some of the time (it doesn't always open at the stated time), the information is wonderful. Learning about the lives of people has fascinated me throughout my life and this is no exception.

We stayed over particularly to visit this museum and stated hours were 10 a.m. for opening. We waited until 10:15 a.m. and no one opened and no lights were on. Sorry . . . thought it would have been a fascinating museum for Natchez history.

I have often gone by this museum when visiting Natchez, but opening hours are limited, so this year was my first visit. The museum has some very good exhibits; but in other sections the collection is haphazard. For example, the section on African art had hand-lettered signs and only provided the most basic information. The sections on slavery and post-war... More

Excellent presentation of the lives of African Americans of the area, both the well known and the not so well known. Many items will bring back memories for people of different races. Our guide seemed to have an encyclopedic knowledge of and true passion for his subject - and a voice that could give James Earl Jones a run for... More

As a U.S. History teacher, my reaction to this museum was one of new appreciation for the contribution of the enslaved person to the U.S. economy. Anyone interested in the unique, peculiar, and fascinating past of the institution of slavery in America should visit this museum. One of the exhibits is a bit mature (i.e., showcases the primitive, African artifacts... More
