If you want to go to Mindo this is worth seeing. Many different kinds of butterfly. Small place but gorgeous. Better to go around 10 before all the tourists arrive.
Enjoyed about an hour inside with the many species of beautiful butterflies. There was an English speaking guide to provide information on the lifecycle stages of butterflies before turning you loose to walk among them in their enclosure. We witness butterflies emerging from their cocoons and unfolding their wings to dry. This place makes for great photo opportunities. A couple... More
About a 30 minute walk from the town centre but with a map, there should be no problems finding the place. The area is small but compact with lots to see and a large variety of butterfly species. Of particular interest were the cocoons that were on display with butterflies emerging from them and drying off their wings. The gentleman... More
The grounds on the outside of the entrance are beautiful. Inside is okay having water features and seating to relax and enjoy the various species. A brief explanation of the life cycle is helpful to understanding this beautiful creature. And there are plaques with the various species names and photos displayed all around. I felt the the admission fee was... More
Go in the middle of the day when the butterflies are active. Great for kids or butterfly enthusiasts, enjoyable for all others. The woman at the desk was lovely and spoke great English. The setting is pretty.
At first I skeptical about visiting a butterfly ranch. But I was pleasantly surprised. There were many, many very beautiful butterflies in the enclosure. Many of them landed on me and we spent some time together. It was also fascinating to see the birth of several butterflies. All in all a very worthwhile experience.
This is a nice place to see butterflies. There are many species and you've got a good chance to make pictures of them. A short explanation is included. Most special thing is that you can see butterflies being born. Nice place to go in the morning for an hour or so.
As you enter the grounds there are hummingbirds everywhere! The butterfly enclosure is a bit of an anticlimax after all the birds, it's a bit small and there aren't that many types of butterfly, but there are good displays, you can feed the butterflies, see all the different stages of the lifecycle, and although the types of butterflies which are... We have a big butterfly exhibit at our museum in Houston, so I was expecting to be somewhat disappointed by this. It was really lovely. Small, but you see many many butterflies in all stages of life. And all different sorts. As someone else mentioned you won't want to stay all day, but its quite fun for 1/2 hour or... More
This is a quick trip. Don't expect to spend half a day or anything unless like butterflies a lot :-). The quick intro tour is pretty good to remind you how butterflies are born. Lots of variety and great photo ops including the humming birds just outside. It was worth the visit
