Lake Mary comes as a "set"--Upper Lake Mary, Lower Lake Mary, etc. We aren't boaters or campers, but frequent the picnic and camping areas to sit and stare out at the lake. There's usually a breeze rippling the water, and when we go there--spring through fall--wildflowers and lush tall grasses, making this a refreshing getaway from the dryer climes of... More

We went in August and it was so crowded for such a small body of water. I would not make a special trip there if I wasn't local.

Like Lake Mormon, which is also of the highway heading to Flagstaff, Lake Mary currently suffers from a lack of water. The entire region is very dry and thus, the levels of the recreational lakes are very low and muddy, which makes for a less attractive water view but still does not detract from what remains a picturesque setting, perfect... Love this little lake in the mountains. Its so peaceful and beautiful. Surrounded by beautiful pinetrees, elk coming right up to the lake. The fishing is really good to we caught a lot of pike. This is my favorite place because of the surroundings!

Unfortunately, the lakes around Flagstaff are susceptible to lack of rain and when we visited Upper Lake Mary it was very low and muddy. Lower Lake Mary is a meadow. The fishing conditions at Upper Lake Mary were not exactly positive. But it is pretty and very accessible so it's definitely worth a visit.

My husband and I love to fish. We found Lake Mary about seven years ago and have fished it hundreds of times. It is our favorite lake. We catch Northern Pike, Wall Eye, Crappie, Catfish. We also snag fresh water clams and cray fish. We NEVER keep anything. We catch and release.

My wife and I went fishing here on July 3rd and it was GORGEOUS! I've never seen a more beautiful setting while casting my line into a lake. The fishing was rough, but I am sure that was 99% due to weather. We will go back, without a doubt.

Go in the evenings to see herds of elk. There are several places to park along the shore.
