A crater resulted from the ejection of hot lava through cracks in the old coral reefs that, at the time, extended to the foot of the Koolau Mountain Range. Of special note is a monument honoring Hawaii-born astronaut Ellison Onizuka, who perished aboard the Challenger space shuttle in 1986. Also noteworthy are the Courts of the Missing, white stone tablets bearing the names of those missing in action from World War II. « less

We were on an organized bus tour to Pearl Harbour at the end of the day we were driven to other landmarks including this location. Very interesting however it would be better if we were given the opportunity to get out of the bus to have a look around.

This is the final resting place for approx 45,000 fallen soldiers. The names of an additional 28,000 soldiers who reminds were never found or could not be retrieved are inscribed on walls. The cemetery is located in an old volcano crater and is located above Honolulu. It is a beautiful scene wherever you look. There are scenes of WWII battles... More

Have been visiting this memorial for many years with visiting friends or around Memorial Day. As usual, a very moving and emotional place to visit. Have friends listed on the wall of those lost in the Viet Nam War.

This is a large cemetery on top of a mountain. Walking around it makes you feel peace and quiet. You can take beautiful pictures here.

If you visit here, you will be humbled and honored to see the rows of headstones that line the Punchbowl. It is breathtaking site that will appreciate the freedoms we enjoy in the United States due to the sacrifices made by those who died in uniform.

The cemetery was beautiful. The tour guide said that we could not get out I bus so we did not spend much time there.

Go here then Pearl Harbor or vice versa and make a day of it. This is a must see for any war buff or those interested in how very much the second world war affected Hawaii. The fact that the place is so large is striking on its own, but the reverence and majesty is something to behold. Go and... More

I wanted to get to this review with the Memorial Day weekend coming up. This is a special time to visit NCP as it is decorated with flags as they do in Arlington Nat'l Cemetery. I have visited the friday afternoon of memorial weekend. By that time they have the large flags out lining the drive, but may not be... More

Every time I go to Honolulu, I go to the cemetery. It is absolutely beautiful and to walk around the monuments and see all of the names of the those who have fallen is an amazing experience. I actually found my husband's uncle there. Don't miss the chance to walk out the path on top to see the over look... More
