We visited the museum last summer with my wife.
    We found it very interesting.
If you like ancient technology don't miss it.
    Our guide Maria was excellent!

This is an actual living/working port town rather than a fake shopping village. The shops are run by the individual family owners. There was one shop that had men's Greek shirts for 10€. There are a lot of outdoor restaurants between the shops and the bay. The service at some of the restaurants was slow, but they are very laid back. All in all it was a very nice experience.

Located just outside the cruise port, 5 minute walk. So it is ideal if you visit Katakolo on a cruise and do not want to go on a tour. Nice and clean, rather small beach. Sun beds for rent at 5 euro each, no time limit and including umbrella. Small bar with cold and hot drinks and some food - very reasonable prices. Shower, toilet and changing cabin available. Even a ramp for disabled guests to get into the water. Beach is sandy (gets very hot if you don’t have slippers!) and a strip of pebbles on the waterline. Lots of small cleaner fish which give you a free foot spa, but it can give you a shock if you are not expecting it..... Popular with locals and cruise passengers.

We only stayed for a short visit, but the instruments were fascinating. They ranged from the extremely old to the merely old.

We were wanderinmg (meandering, really) along the main street when we chanced upon this gallery. Although we weren't intending to buy anything, we went in on the basis that "it doesn't cost to look". Big mistake! The objects on display were high quality but, possibly because ours was the last cruise ship of the season, not high-priced. And because there were so few customers around the service was friendly, helpful and unhurried. We ended up buying necklaces for two favourite ladies back home and were delighted with the price, and the beautiful way they were put in chic-looking containers.

We walked along the main street of Katakolon and saw the Saint Nicholas Katakolon Holy Orthodox Church at the far end.
It was a nice church with Greek colors.

From Katakolon goes several times a day a train to Olympia. A good way to visit the sites there. When you are limited in time watch the depature time from Olympia.
An alternative way is the catch the bus at the Port. Costs for both are the same.

We visited for a few hours on a cruise ship, and wondered what to do... this fun opportunity was right around the corner! Beer, exercise (😂) and dancing on the beach, lots of fun! Great conversation too!
    Thanks guys!

Kukuvaya is a true gem in the vast sea of souvenir shops. I came here at about the midpoint of an 11 day cruise and was blown away to find a store selling truly unique and contemporary goods. After seeing so many shops selling the same style of magnet and keychain, it was refreshing to see a place selling original Greek made souvenirs.

Originally, I got a fantastic little magnet made from Greek marble. I then came back to show some travel companions the shop and ended up with a small bust of Socrates which is my favorite souvenir of my entire trip.

The shopkeeper, Theodore, was incredibly friendly and helpful. After traveling through larger cities, I never expected to find such a treasure in a small port town in Greece. I truly wish there were more places like this.

Kudos to Theodore and his shop, the world needs more places like this.

We really enjoyed browsing in this shop, with amazing items in olive wood that are eye catching and beautifully made. We bought several items for gifts, and then one thing for ourselves. The owners were very accommodating, and wrapped everything securely for our travel home. I highly recommend a stop here to enjoy the ambience and the beauty of the products, and of course to purchase something unique from Katakolo.

We were looking for the Greek Blue Eyes and found them in this shop. Had some other things that we were looking for so it was a nice surprise and it was affordable.
