- planegirl100Hampshire, UK431 contributionsFirst visit to the Sanctuary and was genuinely amazed at what their is to see, read and do here. It's free to get in, easy to find and parking is on site. Something for everyone here from 1-100, lots of beautiful donkeys all with their own stories and quirky ways.
Arrived just as a talk about the Sanctuary and donkey history was starting, very interesting and the guy was so passionate about the donkeys.
Lots of opportunities and spaces to see the donkeys and give them a head fuss, they really are misunderstood!
Shop and cafe in the main building. Shop had lots of great donkey gifts and souvenirs to buy along with plenty of other good quality items.
Made a donation on the way out via the self service card machine. The staff and volunteers here are brilliantWritten March 15, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Maggie is very welcoming and great to deal with from the first point of contact. Maggie knew this trip was for a birthday surprise so Eric was wearing his birthday bow. Highly recommend anyone to visit, such fun for a few hours.Written February 20, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - gerald56152 contributionsThe weather was rather wintery ( surprise - it was February !) yet we had a wonderful experience and watched the sea for 30 minutes while drinking tea. This is a favourite place to visit of ours.Written February 16, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- runningwild32united kingdom319 contributionsWe always go to see a play during the summer season, 12 different plays in consecutive weeks. This must be a unique experience which few places offer around the country. The theatre is quaint and I can only imagine it is a throw back to a bygone era.
Credit must go to each and every cast member, some do appear in more than one play, as the quality is always of a high standard. We saw Pack of Lies this year, which kept us guessing until the end, along with enjoying the way that at various stages throughout the evening, a cast member spoke directly to the audience to add flesh to the story and plot.
I can only hope that the plays continue to be supported both by holiday makers and locals, and not let this traditional type of theatre die. Well done to all those involved.Written September 6, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. We reached the beach by walking along the town's Esplanade then joined the South West Coast Path.
The beach got it's name as it is home to Jacob's Ladder, a set of metal and wood steps that leads up to Connaught Gardens on top of the cliff. The Beach is also accessible via the steps.
The crescent shaped beach is enclosed by rather stunning red stone cliffs and coastline. Along part of the back of the Beach there are a number of beach huts with their brightly painted doors.
The beach which is nearly one kilometre long comprises of shingle and stones washed by the water's of the English Channel.
It is certainly a lot quieter than the main beach, closer to the Town.Written August 16, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Millie024Llantwit Major, UK532 contributionsThis delightful little museum is in an old chapel which has been beautifully restored to house a fine collection of old toys and games. It is staffed by very pleasant volunteers, who made us feel very welcome. There is also a display about the history of the chapel, which I enjoyed too. It’s good that the memorials on the chapel walls and the organ have been left in place. There are some lovely scenes using soft toys, a woodland picnic, for example. In addition there are a number of model railways, games and toys, going back to the nineteenth century. A wonderful place to visit. Thank you.Written September 19, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Peter W39 contributionsThis is a great walk with wonderfull views of sandstone cliffs and pillars, steep path in places. - Roger RSevenoaks, UK239 contributionsVery well presented collection of objects from prehistory to the present day. At only £2.50 per entry, it's bargain, especially if you're also going on one their guided walks when entry to the museum is included. I went on the town walk, which was excellent.Written July 18, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- JE-Wirral70 contributionsThe whole area is magical with breathtaking views. Wear decent walking shoes, can be steep and rugged. Well worth a visit particularly if you like walking. There are some seats scattered about for those who just want to relax and take in the views.
