- Discerning_Commenter34 contributionsTwin Brook is a great place to walk across large fields under a big sky. Throughout a good portion of the year, next to the mowed paths one finds a profusion of wildflowers. In addition to the fields, a number of trails meander through the woods. A walk from Greely Road to Tuttle Road, including a detour on a woods trail can easily consume an hour and during this time you'll only see a small handful of people, mostly at a great distance. If coming from Portland on 295, take the Bucknam Road exit and Route 9 north, making a right on HARRIS ROAD, which is a little known but great shortcut. Follow Harris to the end and make a left. Twin Brook will be on your right shortly.Written August 18, 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- MaineMountainOwlMaine287 contributionsThis 268-acre (108.5 ha) woodland was a special place due to its natural beauty and relative quiet. It had 5.4 miles (8.7 km) of color-coded and blazed trails and trailhead and junction map kiosks – no other amenities. Bring water and tick repellent. Some seasonal waterfalls were well worth the time and effort. Trails had easy grades. Among trail users were dog walkers and bicyclists. Limited parking was along the roadside shoulder. I liked all that I found here; I disliked nothing.Written August 16, 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - MaineMountainOwlMaine287 contributionsThis 212-acre (85.8 ha) preserve centered on a 46-acre (18.6 ha) pond. Parking was in a dirt lot. The trailhead had a map kiosk. A scenic 2.8-mile (4.5 km) trail went along the pond’s western shoreline. Trails linked up with other trails in a network and a loop. The preserve had two picnic tables, two benches, and several overlooks of the pond. Trails were clearly marked trail with color codes and had easy grades. A portable toilet was by the trailhead. The preserve was a good place to view ducks, turtles, beaver, and other wildlife around and on the pond. I liked all that I saw here; I disliked only the occasional mosquitoes near the pond.Written May 31, 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - MaineMountainOwlMaine287 contributionsThis 22-acre (8.9 ha) preserve includes 11 acres (4.5 ha) of beachfront. It is open dawn to dusk. It allows no onsite non-resident parking and there’s nowhere nearby that allows public parking. It also prohibits dogs. The preserve has a seasonal ranger, restroom and changing facilities, loop trails, and a pier. Parking was limited and strictly enforced; I came briefly before ranger’s hours to check it out. I liked all that I found here, except that use, quite understandably, was limited to town residents.Written June 23, 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Debra0702lynnNewport, ME27 contributionsWent to Lucinda's for a long-anticipated girls spa day with 7 friends. I had a deep tissue massage. There was no health history required (I asked twice at the desk and then directly asked the therapist who said that they usually do them and I would do one "after".) Tea was offered in the waiting room but there was no offering of robe and slippers or any kind of "green room" for waiting once we were checked in and not enough chairs for all of us and the others who were coming in. We were taken in a timely manner to our services. My therapist was somewhat knowledgeable and could have given an outstanding massage session if she had been "present" in the room. It was obvious that she was dealing with either a cold or allergies, constantly coughing and sniffing. There was no attention to my comfort; I had to ask to have the bolster moved from my knees to under my ankles when we first started. It felt like she was not "in the room" with me. I had shared one problem spot with her where I asked for more attention and, again, no presence about my pain tolerance or lack of, no questioning whether she was addressing the issue, etc. There was no face massage or scalp massage. Disappointing.Written May 2, 2016This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
