Toulouse is nicknamed the "Pink City" due to its unique widespread use of pink brick manufactured in the area.

Construction of Le Capitole de Toulouse, the municipal seat of Toulouse, originally began in 1190 but its form today is much more a derivative of the 1750s with its regional characteristic pink brick. Today it is used as a capital, opera house, and symphony theatre.
The Musée des Augustins de Toulouse houses the city's fine arts exhibit inside a former gothic convent. The museum features greater than 4,000 works from the Middle Ages to the 1900s.
Built between 1080 and 1120 the Basilica of St. Sernin features a five-tier bell tower, vaulted ceilings, and is the burial place of the Saints Saturnin and Honoratus.
