Nuremberg, located about 170 kilometres north of Munich has historical importance for a variety of reasons. It was an unofficial capital of the Holy Roman Empire, the centre of the 15th and 16th century German Renaissance, as well as a centre of Nazi Germany and the subsequent Nuremberg Trials.
