There are two airports near Florence. The closer of the two is Peretola Airport (airport code FLR), located about 30 minutes from the city centre. The other airport, which is actually closer to Pisa, Italy, is Galileo Galilei Airport (airport code PSA). Galileo Galilei Airport is about 90 minutes away from Florence.
Peretola Airport serves 21 airlines including Alitalia, British Airways, Finnair, KLM and SWISS as well as low cost carriers like City Jet. Flights leave to many major European cities including London, Brussels, Amsterdam, Munich and Zurich as well as cities on the Iberian Peninsula and in Italy . Busses leave from the airport train station to Florence each half hour.
Galileo Galilei serves 22 airlines including US-based Delta, British Airways, Alitalia and low cost carriers EasyJet, Ryanair and Jet2. Ryanair has flights to most of the destinations of any airline at either airport. More than four million travellers went through Galileo Galilei Airport in 2009.
