Bodrum is a Turkish city with ancient heritage. It used to be called Halicarnassus and is home to a few notable archaeological landmarks including the Mausoleum of Halicarnassus.

Bodrum is located on the southwestern coast of Turkey, bordering the Mediterranean Sea. It is now a seaport with its economy based primarily on tourism and the property market.

Aside from visiting the Mausoleum, visitors can travel to the nearby Greek islands of Rhodes and Kos or see the Bodrum Amphitheatre, the Bodrum Castle or the seven windmills.

There are two possibilities for flying to Bodrum. The more popular method is to fly into Milas-Bodrum Airport (Airport code BJV), which is 36 kilometres outside of the city. The other option is to fly into Kos Island International Airport (Airport code KGS), which is on the Greek island of Kos, about 40 kilometres from Bodrum. This option would only make more sense than flying into Milas-Bodrum Airport if the plan was to stay in Greece but visit Bodrum for just a short amount of time. Milas-Bodrum Airport is served by 34 airlines flying to and from destinations all around Eastern and Western Europe. Multiple low cost carriers are served by the airport, including EasyJet, Monarch, Thomas Cook, and Thomson Airways.

Kos Island Airport is also served by a variety of low cost carriers, including Jet2, EasyJet, BMI, Condor, TUIfly and Ryanair. TUIfly and Air Berlin fly to the greatest variety of destinations. The majority of flights departs to or arrives from European cities, although a few flights to and from Tel Aviv and smaller Greek cities are available.
