Piety Hill was one of Shasta County’s original 1849 gold mining settlements. Today we see the remnants of this old mining settlement that remind us of the county got its start including dry reservoirs, holes in the ground that were once house cellars and the steep earthen cliff where hydraulic mining stopped.
