The rotenburos on the hill behind the hotel must be reached by a private funicular. It offered expansive view of the local rural surroundings in the middle of a landscaped garden. Our fall visit was met with sudden overnight heavy snow & our morning soak in the midst of snow covered red leaves was invigorating & breathtaking. Rooms were a... More

My family visits Japan every year, but usually my in-laws are busy and we see them more in passing. I decided that this year we would take a trip together to a new location for everyone (Shikoku is regarded in Japan as being exotic country area). My wife studied possible locations for a few months and settled upon this hotel... More

For those travelers that enjoy outdoor Japanese baths (Roten-buro), this hotel will provide a special treat. They possess three wonderful outdoor baths overlooking surrounding forest-covered hills with small hamlets scattered here and there. Especially beautiful at night. The baths consist of a men's only and a women's only, as well as a mixed-bath in which both sexes bathe together. While... More

In the mountains East of the Oboke Canyon sits Kazurabashi Hotel, named after the vine bridge across the Yoshino River. Located at the Shin Iya hot spring, the hotel is a classic Japanese onsen hotel. Rooms have tatami floors and guests sleep on futons, which may not suit the backs of some Westerners used to thicker beds. The baths are... More

Kazurabashi is a japanese style (ie sleeping on tatami floor) accomodation. The rooms are ok, clean, but feeling a bit old. Service is very-good. You should definitely eat there at diner, the food is very good and with specific preparations you will not find in other parts of japan. Do not miss the cable-cart accessed open-air bath above the hotel.... More

We were there in winter, after New Year was over, and midweek. So we had it almost to ourselves. We were mostly there because of the location and outdoor bath, but the food and rooms were also really good. The bath was fantastic! Up in the cute cable car (very civilised), and then hot bath in the snow, very attractively... More
