Our stay at The Bangala was short but delightful. The rooms are lovely and spacious and the bathrooms well appointed, although the shower gel and shampoo had not been refilled which was a bit of an oversight. However, the most charming aspect of this hotel is the restaurant. The food is absolutely superb and, although there is no menu choice,... More

We were staying at another property and wanted to visit 'The Bangla' for lunch. I called up the hotel for directions. While giving us directions the lady on the phone had the nerve to tell us, the lunch was expensive. Having gone through the trip advisor site we were well aware, in general of the cost. It should be left... More

This is a remarkable hotel; the staff are friendly, the rooms are very well maintained and the food is always fresh! During my stay I learned much more than I had anticipated by their knowledgeable historians. The room keys are ADORABLE! I have but one suggestion and that is for the food servers to not be so hasty with replenishing... More

A few of us old school friends had the opportunity of staying at The Bangala, a Chettinad Heritage hotel owned by the M.S.M.M.family. It was suddenly my best holiday ever with undoubtedly the most delicious Chettinad food. Mrs Meenakshi Meyyappan, Mrs. Meyyammai Murugappan, Mrs. Meyyappan's son Junior and daughter Alagu, all members of the M.S.M.M. family, are the most gracious... More

Loved everything about this place and wished we'd had more than one night here. Lovely historic and beautifully restored property, comfortable rooms, friendly service and great food at breakfast, lunch and dinner. The surrounding Chettinad area is fascinating to visit. Couldn't comment on the immediate location of the hotel itself as didn't get a chance to venture outside on our own... More

great job done trying to preserve restore and keep alive the world of the chettinad chettiars. Great value for money and gracious hostess and enthusiastic staff! who unfortunately do not know when to serve food and when to stop, because they heap all the dishes served on the plate before you know it! and it gets cold. The only bad taste... More

Received a warm welcome. Given a spacious, well furnished room on the ground floor. The pool and the gardens are beautiful. Enjoyed the four course dinner, the portions were large and it was very good value. The only problem is that the hotel is on road and in the middle of a busy village so there was a lot of... More

We really enjoyed our three night stay here. The rooms are large and comfortable and open onto a shared veranda or terraces with lots of comfy chairs, overhead fans and small libraries of good quality books that guests can borrow during their stay. There's even a small lift in the corner of the new block. The gift shop sells copies... More
