Three themed bedrooms - 'Chocolate', 'Africa' and 'French' - I chose 'Chocolate' a superb stay preceeded by a fantastic buffet in the restaurant and some fine real ale drinking in the bar - a late breakfast - service was excellent - Thank you so much.

A quaint 'olde worlde' pub and restaurant where we were made very welcome. Three rooms available for B & B and our room was extremely comfortable and well appointed. The traditional pub was busy both in the bars and the dining areas, but was not 'noisy' as such with non of the usual games machine / loud music etc. but... More

Sunday lunch in an unfamiliar pub can be hit or miss. This was definitely a hit. Great terrine to start followed by tasty beef. Proper roast potatoes, crispy Yorkshire pudding and decent veg were served on hot plates with proper care and attention. Top notch.

Nice little pub to frequent if your trains running late or for a little bite to eat. The food and drink is nice, lovely atmosphere and not to dear considering the averege price for the area. definitely worth a visit!

I stopped into the John Barleycorn mainly to get out of the rain and use up some time and was happy to find the place warm and comfortable with friendly people there. I had the Steak and Stilton pie £12 (with veg) which was very cheesy tasting (which I liked) and the meat was of good quality, nice pastry too.... More

Quaint old style pub, good service, average pub grub. Don't expect more than fried food such as scampi and chips, fish and chips etc. Vegetables were poor quality and there was only one vegetarian main course option. Prices were a little high for the quality.

Always top of the list for a fish and chip dinner in gorgeous Goring on Thames, and certainly some of the best fish and chips we have ever had! While we haven't stayed in the rooms we love the pub, great food (we think the best in the village), friendly, helpful staff and a nice, if occasionally a bit quiet,... More

My partner and I, and our friend stopped off here whilst completeing the Ridgeway wallk for charity! We were all exhausted and as soon as we got there we were welcomed in and shown to our rooms straight away, and what beautiful rooms! I was in the 'french suite' with my partner, and it was comfortable, with a large bed... More

We had a great overnight stay in the French room, which was lovely and cosy, very comfortable bed and large ensuite bathroom. We ate in the restaurant and enjoyed a beautifully cooked three course meal which was very reasonably priced. The staff are all really helpful, courteous and friendly and many locals were eating in the restaurant which is always... More
