We stayed a couple of nights at the Jolly Tar in early June. Great spot to be based in respect of places to visit/explore within a few miles. Far more than that, however, is the quality of accommodation, service and food at the pub. Steve, Leigh and their staff go out of their way to make you feel comfortable, welcome... More

Stayed here for two nights with my husband 16th and 17th of May. Lovely place. Great banter with the locals and Steve and his wife. Rooms were very welcoming and comfortable. Food was excellent and nothing is too much trouble. This is definately on our list of places to visit regularly from now on. Highly recommended!

We went on a Sunday night and were the only people in the lounge bar for over an hour. The food was very good and the ales also excelled. Service was fine and friendly staff/landlord. The steaks are a bit pricier than normal for the area but you can taste the difference. A bit expensive for regular visits however defineately... More

Stayed a night at the Jolly Tar while on a walking weekend around the Cotswolds. Room very clean, comfortable and tastefully decorated. Warmly welcomed by the host, made to feel relaxed and at home from the minute we arrived. We had warm chicken Caesar salad with anchovies and cod wrapped in Parma ham, which was delicious. And in the morning... More

I was travelling on business and spent 2 nights there. It was perfect and very affordable. Thank you to Steve for his kindness and allowing me to stay in the lounge working away, although it was supposed to be closed for afternoon break. The food cooked by his wife is delicious, and the wine list is very interesting and unexpected.... More

We went to the Jolly Tar, after reading some lovely reviews, it was not what we expected. I had the Belly Pork it tasted funny and it was in the most tasteless watery sauce, I have ever seen. Will not be going back, but I would like to say the staff were friendly it was only let down by this... More

The food is excellent and the staff very friendly. We have started coming here regularly as it is so welcoming and the food is just what you need. Good choice for vegetarians and meat eaters and always cooked well. Never had a bad meal. Steve is really friendly and we always leave with full stomachs and feeling very happy .... More

Went here for Saturday dinner without a reservation. Although many tables were booked we were welcomed and easily accommodated. We shared olives as a starter which were tasty, the Miche had a mushroom ragout an I had smoked haddock on chive mash with lemon butter. Both meals were excellent. Miche said it as the best meal she'd had for some... More

Great place in a very quiet rural setting and close to most sites in the area. Nice welcome from the owner and his dog on arrival. Rooms are nice and cosy and you can park right at the door. Had a great meal on Saturday night, belly if pork, washed down with some real ale.
