No words can describe this idyllic place. From the time you enter this magical world to the time you leave. The food prepared by Pierre Luigi and the wonderful ambience created by Lady Athena! I cried when I had to leave Pompeiia (the white shepard-like dog). This is a wonderful place with a magical aura. Not to be missed! We... More

This is a magical place under every point of view . It is hard to find any information about it as the landlords there keep it as a secret and this is well undertandable once you stepped in . Athena and Alistair Mac Alpine , the owners of this place are opening the doors of their sacred residence to few... More

Created as a labour of love over seven years by Alastair and Athena McAlpine, Il Convento provides everything - and leaves out everything - that one expects in a stylish idyll. Left out are the TVs, minibars, newspapers, telephones... - and you actually end up resenting seeing them when next you visit a "5-Star" modern hotel. 'In' are large stone-walled... More

My wife and I spent 6 nights here in mid June at the tail end of a what was a fabulous honeymoon touring Bascilicata and Puglia. Il Convento was by far and away the best place we stayed in (and the competition was extremely high). We were there under an hour when we decided to change our plans to stay... More

Wonderful Exceptionally expensive but worth every euro It is a house party type of place. We were the only guests there last week - am not sure if I would like it when completely full of non compatible people Superb food, superb hospitality, superb service. Fabulous book collection - I read three biographies when I was there m m More

Ive stayed her twice. Once as a surpise for my wife and then more recently for my 40th birthday with a dozen or so close friends. Can honestly say this is one of the loveliest 'B&B's' I have stayed in. Athena and Alistair make you feel like long-lost relatives. Combine this wonderful hospitality with an exceptional chef, beautiful art and... More

Peaceful yet vibrant, relaxing yet stimulating….what a find! A real feast for the eyes, stomach and soul. Crammed with beautiful textile art and all sorts of fascinating books and treasures. Delicious linen sheets, soaps, pool, mouthwatering food and passionate attention to detail. Very charming and accommodating owners and staff who helped make our first holiday with a baby utterly relaxing... More

Fabulous publicity but way short on delivery, this intimate B&B lacks window screens to keep mosquitoes out, has damp sheets and mildewy rooms, and very close quarters where you can hear crying children, fighting couples, active couples, and even the owners grumbling--no wonder they must be tired after having so many people around. Ecelectic blend of Italian antiques and Asian and African artifacts coupled with the charming and interesting owners make this one of the best hotels i have ever stayed in. There is also a wonderful chef for superb Puglian lunches in the lovely dining room. This Hotel is not to be missed! More
