This is a magical place. The grounds are well planted and kept up nicely. There are hummingbird feeders that attract several different types of hummers, some of which have become so tame they will fly right up to you - so close it is hard to take pictures! There are also fruit feeders that attract tanagers and other birds for... More

Have stayed here twice, and will return. The complex is beautiful. Well landscaped with lots of birds and butterflies. The rooms, we have stayed in 3 different ones, are nice and comfortable. You are at 2200m so nights are cool. The restaurant was good, with many choices on the buffet. The staff is very attentive, knows who you are and... More

The grounds of this hotel is beautiful and has many different kinds of hummingbirds bustling along the paths, around the plants, and even right next to you. We came to this area to see the quetzal. The immediate area here may not be the ideal place for quetzal watching. We stayed here two nights and we overheard other guests' birding... More

The room was excellent, especially the overflow bath tub. Beautiful gardens with multiple birds especially hummingbirds. More cameras and equipment by guests than anywhere we have been. Took hikes and photographed the resplendent/ male and female together. Definately a time to remember.

This mountain valley hotel and surrounding woodlands are a paradise. The Resplendant Quetzal, a very special bird, is usually easy to find as are many other beautiful birds. The lodging, dining room, and bar are clean and modern. The architectural design of the bar is extraordinary - wood, stone, and glass are used in perfect balance. One huge wall, entirely... More

We spent two nights here and really wished we had booked three. The only disadvantage to the hotel is getting here which is down a largely gravelled, long, thin and windy road. We found the staff here to be friendly and helpful and the accommodation excellent. Our room was large, well equipped and furnished, comfortable and clean. It was lovely... More

We booked our reservations in October for a 2 night stay early March. The ride from San Jose took 2 1/2 hours, thank goodness our driver was cautious, I didn't have 'white knuckles'! We arrived mid afternoon after traveling since 4 in the morning to a beautiful but manicured grounds (not good for most birds) with cluster units, 2 separate... More

Loved everything about this place. Stayed only 2 nights, but could have stayed longer. Don't try to travel there on a dark, foggy, rainey night as we did though--very scarey. You really need daylight to navigate the roads. People at the hotel could not have been nicer and more helpful. Food was great and plentiful. Unfortunately, they did put us... More

Spent 3 nights at Savegre Hotel and it was fantastic. The cabin/Lodge was beautiful and the surrounding grounds were magnificent. The food was good at all meals and the bar was great and had good prices. Watching the humming birds was fun fun fun. Walking the river was worth the entire trip. Do take a jacket; it gets chilly up... More

We had a 5 hour journey to this hotel from Monteverde with an excellent driver with good English. We arrived just after lunch and quickly got the impression that this is where the serious bird watchers aim to be. The grounds were lovely and the reception staff very helpful. We had a junior suite at this location which was very... More
