If you're into WW1 military history and you want a really great place to stay local to Ypres, then Talbot house is THE place. Even if you don't stay, it's a must see. The volunteers that look after it (change at intervals) were really friendly, helpful & sat down with us well into the night talking about anything & everything.... More

Staying in this B&B is as going back in the time. With its root in the "Great War" one still can sens a sort of serenity. Not for luxury seekers, it is the history that does it and the management couple is willing to tell you all about it. More

How lucky to be able to stay in the rooms that weary soldiers from WW1 were staying in. The House is a must see place whether or not you stay here. It has wonderful displays and a great atmosphere to soak up. The man at the front desk on the museum side was one of the most interesting and helpful... More

Talbot House was established in December 1915 as a place of refuge for the Commonwealth soldiers of the Great War who were fighting in the Ypres Salient of Belgium. It operates today, as it has since 1931, as a hotel/hostel/museum - a wonderful place of memorial and fun. Rooms are available , each with a story, and there is a... More

Our second vist to Talbot House this year! If your after hotel levels of comfort and service then look elsewhere! Talbot House is a WW1 historic sight which has been left more or less as it was in 1916! Therefore you will have to live without en suite's and room service! What you do get is a genuine slice of... Ideal historic venue to stay if visiting Ypres (leper), being just 11km West. Little changed in nearly 100 years, a must for any history buff/student visiting this area. Breakfast has be booked in advance btw. Showers etc away from rooms, but not busy. Rooms equipped with single basin. Light sleepers should look for room at the rear of the house,... More

Talbot House or "Toc H" is the rest and recreation facility set up by Reverend "Tubby" Clayton for British Tommies in the Great War. It is a hotel as well as a museum, offering several clean but spartan rooms at 25 Euros a night, room only. Rooms only have a sink, and baths/showers are shared. Singles can stay in twin... More
