Ok, it's bank holiday Monday and you fancy a change from Brixham and don't want to drive to Dartmouth or Torquay knowing the roads will be busy as will the usual haunts. We looked at the Web sites of a few places and having only eaten there twice before, when it had been average and not so good, post refurbishment... More

We have stayed at the Weary Ploughman before and this time had a nice double room with an ensuite. The room was airy, clean and very comfortable. There was plenty of nice hot water for a relaxing bath, nice white fluffy towels. Tea and Coffee making facilities, hairdryer, bottled water in the room and a large television on the wall... More

There is nothing bad that you can say about The Weary Ploughman. We arrived on Friday evening to a very friendly welcome and then shown to our beautiful room. I had ordered flowers fior my wife and they were ready in the room upon arrival. The room was immaculate very light and airy and not a thing out of place. I... More

Thank you very much for giving us 'top marks' and for your kind comments, they were really appreciated by all of use. We do try hard to give our overnight guests, and restaurant customers, an enjoyable experience and it is up-lifting to know that you think we have achieved this. We try to source our food as locally as possible... More

Having already reviewed this establishment I wasn't going to bother after our recent stay, but then I read a recent review which seemed to be about a very different Weary Ploughman to the one I have experienced and this has prompted me to put fingers to keyboard! My husband and I have stayed here several times, both on our own... More

We stayed here at the weekend, on arrival the doors were locked and after ringing the doorbell several times and phoning we saw a sign that said they were closed till 5:30pm. When booking I was advised check in was after 2 pm but not informed they would be closed. When a chap ? manager let us in he argued... More

Thank you June Marie A for taking the time to write a review for The Weary Ploughman Inn. I am so sorry that you did not enjoy your stay with us. I have discussed your complaints with our staff. My other half found The Weary Ploughman whilst surfing the internet, he had asked me where did I want to go for the weekend and I had replied Dartmouth. I wasn't told where we were going, until a couple of days before. I will be honest, I was a bit miffed that he had decided to book The Weary Ploughman... More

Thank you "MicksGirlfriend" for writing your very complementary review on The Weary Ploughman Inn. We all really appreciate your kind comments and are so pleased you decided to stay with us rather than in Dartmouth. Dartmouth isn't very far away is it if you drive down to Kingswear and cross the river by ferry - when the steam trains run... More

We booked one nights accommodation for New Years Eve 2012. We were so impressed with the friendly and welcoming staff who were Simon, Jodie, Emma and Will (top chef) and of course the delightful owners, Mike and Steph. The room was cosy, very comfortable and extremely clean. The restaurant atmosphere was warm and inviting and the food was delicious! We... More

We visited this hotel during our trip home from New Year celebrations, so we had already had more than enough food and drink over the festive period,(and so likely to be harder to please than normal) however this small hotel was excellent, the welcome was warm, we were shown to our room, given dinner menu to take with us and peruse... I originally booked this for a couple of nights stay with friends after reading reviews on tripadvisor. I was a bit anxious when we arrived because from the outside it didn't really appeal. However, other reviewers had said that you shouldn't be put off by the outside appearance. I'm glad we followed their advice as the rooms are very nice... More

My wife and I have just returned from a long weekend at the Weary Ploughman, and have to say that we are not the easiest people to please having been involved at a high level for many years in the hospitality business. Everything was done with the utmost efficiency and the customer service was above reproach. The food was excellent... More
