We renewed our acquaintance with the Auberge d'Abbaye after a gap of 10 years. It was still as charming as ever but with a brighter aspect under the new ownership. Rooms are as to be expected at an auberge and the food still excellent -although perhaps not as regional as it once was eg no trou normande. Worth a visit... More

We had the pleasure of spending six nights in May 2012 at the Auberge de l'Abbaye in Hambye, Normandie, France. It is a charming country inn, part of the Logis Hotels chain, owned and run by a hard working young couple, Cyril and Laetitia Lebéhot. This is really a restaurant with rooms, the accommodation is simple but adequate - what people really go for is the food. The last time we stayed was about 2005 - the food in those days was very good and the restaurant was always busy, however the new owners have moved everything up several notches. We had spent the best... More

The last time I visited this restaurant was about eight years ago, I remember that Sir Donald and Lady Diana Sinden were staying there and of course I heard his voice before seeing them seated in a corner of the restaurant. The previous owner, we nicknamed "oui-oui" because this is what she always said ad infinitum. In her day, they... More

Very clean and comfortable, our room at the front had a fabulous view, but we like to sleep with windows open and could be quite noisy. Quite expensive if you wish to eat there, although as a Michelin star restaurant they have the right to be. Staff were really helpful but you do need basic French as they know very... More
