This is our 4th visit to the Blue Ball -this time for a 60th birthday with adults, children and 3 dogs. Previously, we have been as a couple and with a group of friends Difficult to add much to the previous reviews. The pub is a gem and I hope it always keeps its individuality. Log fires, good food and... More

We chose this inn for its location near to the footpath and because they allowed dogs. This place not only allows dogs, they almost out number the humans! A very enjoyable, excellent dinner and great service throughout. Perhaps the rooms are a bit dated but a wonderful place to stay nonetheless. The bar has a great atmosphere with multiple fire... I guess when we arrived in the late afternoon sun and saw the welcoming bars and the fires were already lit we had created for ourselves a degree of over-expectancy for the room. Ours, room 12, was a bit of a let down; as was the en-suite bathroom. Nothing terrible, just a bit "tired" and needing something. Having said that,... More

Stayed over Easter weekend with friends and our young lab. All of us and especially our 6 month old lab were made to feel very welcome from the start. The surrounding countryside is outstanding, rugged & great for many walks returning to the pub to collapse in a sofa by a welcoming fire. The breakfasts hearty with good selections, the... More

Amazing location, open the door and walk for miles in any direction. Fantastic food and staff cannot do enough. We stayed for 4 nights with our young dog. Breakfast was wholesome and plentyful. Walks from the Inn are plentiful, the location is beautiful just a 2 minute car drive into Lynmouth and Lynton or a good half an hour walk... More

You can park up your car and leave it for your entire stay if you enjoy walking it is perfect! When you get back from your... More

We stayed for four nights and thoroughly enjoyed our time. The rooms were lovely and we were shown to ours every evening by Poppy the Labrador. The food was excellent and some of the nicest I've eaten in a pub although be warned the portions are huge. The location is beautiful, surrounded by rolling hills. If you don't like dogs... More

We stayed here for 4 nights with our Jack Russell last week. The place was recommended to us by our parents who have stayed here previously and as we have never stayed in this part of the country before we thought it would be nice to take up the pub's offer of 4 nights for the price of 2 during... Fantasic! lovely hotel/inn, cosy, warm and friendly. fantastic ales and food. Everything dog friendly. We went 'out of season' but the areas we went to were all dog friendly too: Lynmouth down the road and Ilfracoombe (Dolly's Cafe does very good fish and chips) were all nice. The Blue Ball was something else though, friendly welcomes at all times, and... More
