Hotel is clean and located really conveniently on the main road. All buses stop there so it's easy to explore all the ski fields and they're free for boarders and skiers. Rooms are pretty small but perfectly adequate and showers are very good. Drying room in basement and cafe for breakfast with full buffet which we had included is just... More

Four of us Aussies stayed here in mid Feb and it was the first time to the Hakuba area. The Good: The hotel was pretty standard size, the staff were willing to assist with most simple enquiries (best not to always take their advice as gospel and consult google if you want to be sure about things like bus timetables... Fab little hotel on the main street of Hakuba. Homely feel and good facilities e.g. Dry room for skis etc. Amazingly helpful staff. Just a quick phone call from the train station and they picked us up free of charge. They also rang to help us book dinner reservations and were generally awesome. Free regular shuttle buses to go to... More

My family and I got a deal from jetstar that included flights accommodation and ski passes in Hakuba, Japan. We arrived in Narita and were greeted by a Liquid snow tours representative who showed us to our bus which was quite full of other tourists. It took 5 hours to drive to the hotel and we arrived at about 3am.... More

We knew what we were getting thanks to other reviews so here is our two bobs worth. The place is friendly and it's location in echoland is great. Surrounded by restaurants. It's definitely not a walk to the slopes but the buses use the Shakespeare as a stop so getting around is easy. Rooms were tidy but dated and stained.... More

The staff were fine, the rooms adequate and the breakfast good enough. Nothing is outstanding but nothing very bad, the worst thing in my opinion is the drying room. There's a pub at the front if you need a beer and shops and restaurants close by. The buses to the different slopes stop right outside and all the drivers know... More

This hotel had great service and we felt welcomed from the moment we stepped in. Dean our receptionist took us everywhere whilst we were there. It was pre ski season but luckily this year the snow came early! Lucky us. Hotel is a little out-dated and could do with a refurb. It is not walking distance to the ski field.... More

Stayed at the Shakespeare for 2 nights. There are many plans to choose from depending on your budget..but the so-called 'reasonable plan' will get you reasonable service..nothing more! The rooms are above average size for a Japanese hotel...and the food is adequate. The hotel rooms in the main building could certainly do with an upgrade...stained furniture and bed-covers etc. Please be aware that... We stayed at Shakespeare hotel by chance, after getting upgraded from The Lab Hostel through our Jet Star package. After a long transfer from Narita airport by shuttle, we arrived at 2am to find the reception staff waiting for us with a smile. My Japanese is limited but all the staff speak exceptional English so there was no trouble communicating... More

My wife and I visited Japan for the first time last week, using the Shakespeare Hotel as a base for a week of skiing in the wonderful Hakuba area. The hotel itself is an affordable, simple place with everything you need to have a very comfortable stay. The rooms are quaintly named after one of the many Shakespeare plays (we... More
