We had lunch at the Fleece Inn two times during our holiday in the Cotswolds April 28 - May 4. We tried some other pubs in the area, but liked this one as the food was good quality (although I cannot say I am a huge fan of the diversity of British cuisine), the atmosphere is great and service is... Set in a very pretty if twee village, the Fleece Inn is certainly a historic building well worth seeing - both the interior and exterior. It was an unusually fine and sunny day when I and a companion visited this inn and we had lunch outside in the quite extensive grounds. We ordered a half pint each of some of... More

Many thanks for taking the time to review The Fleece Inn. I am very sorry to hear your experience here at The Fleece Inn was not entirely satisfactory and that you felt you had too little Ham in your sandwich. We pride ourselves on delivering excellent food in a unique National Trust setting and I am dismayed this was not... More

My wife and I ate lunch at The Fleece Inn on Wednesday 21st November 2012. I chose lamb's liver and enjoyed my meal although my wife's pie meal was served luke-warm. Some 90 minutes after eating my liver I started getting stomach cramps, which gradually worsened during my journey north to Blackpool. I was very ill during the next seven... More

We booked a table for 8 people and we were given a large round table which was great for everyone to talk. The food was excellent and very good value. I had the special of braised steak served with a delicious horseradish ice cream and excellent mashed potato and a fantastic apple crumble. Good selection of beers and local ciders.... More

In the centre of a picturesque Cotswolds village (Bretforton) is this relatively unspoiled gem from bygone days. It's warmly welcoming whether you're drinking, or eating or making music or staying the night. It even has an orchard so I believe there's camping available. There are several stone-flagged rooms each with a roaring open fire, inglenooks, settles. The beer is brilliant... More

We went to the Fleece Inn for the Apple and Ale Festival in October 2012, as we did in 2011. It's a really nice event, good selection of beers and ciders, local cheese, good food, music, Morris dancers and apple pressing demonstration. The place itself is really nice and the grounds are children friendly with a little playground and lots... More

This is a wonderful historic pub which I have been going to since before it belonged to the National trust. The problem is that the Trust leases it out so the tenant obviously tries to make enough out of it as possible. Gradually this is eroding its unique character. Often tables are reserved for diners so that there is nowhere... More

Our second visit here, and slightly disappointed this time (2nd October 2012, lunchtime). Firstly, though, the beer ( I had 'Village Idiot'- Whitehorse Brewery) was excellent. Ordered the , f*ggots, mash and mushy peas for myself, and my wife ordered the red mullet. It was 50 minutes before they appeared, and the mullet was such a small portion that my... More

We live only a few miles from the Fleece and over the years have enjoyed many drunken nights there with friends, at the many festivals and events they run or as a couple sampling the very best local ales and ciders. Today however we visited with some friends over from the USA. We had a light lunch of Stilton and... More

Spent a very enjoyable evening with friends who live locally to the Fleece. They recommended it a a place to have a god evening meal. I have to say that it was all we had hoped for. Delicious baked Camembert starter which two of us shared followed by mains of crab linguine, sausage and mash and a rump steak. Suits... More
