We chose this hotel for the price and location, thinking that since we're fairly accustomed to dodgy Chinese hotels, it couldn't possibly be *that* bad. Except it was. We stayed in the older part of the hotel. The rooms had been given a cursory renovation but there were still staples sticking up from the carpet tacking (I punctured my foot... More

We almost stayed here as the Old Town hostel we had booked at the last minute didn't have ensuite bathrooms for us (?). They highly recommended Qini Bagh which apart from having nice staff has little to offer as a hotel! There are two hotels, one old and ramshackled, wall paper casually ripping off it's walls, stained carpets and sheets... More

We stayed 3 nights at this hotel. The first night, the toilet didn't flush in our room, so we changed rooms the next day. In the new room, the a/c didn't work. We called for maintenance - 4 times - but no one ever showed up. The front desk kept saying "5 minutes" but it never happened. So we switched... More

This hotel had to be one the vilest hotels I have ever slept in. FILTHY FILTHY FILTHY!! It is a relic that should be torn down .Beds were ROCK HARD!!!!!!!!!!!!!! May as well have been camping! Carpet was the filthiest hotels ever .My bet is that most prisons are cleaner. The front desk doesn’t speak English and the breakfast food... More

We stayed at the Qinibagh Hotel for three nights in June. The hotel reception is decent enough looking, but the old building at the back is decrepit. The rooms were similar - old, dirty and dusty, the towels were yellowed with age. The air con was extremely weak and the 'double' bed on the first night was tiny, maybe 20cm... More

Clatty, minging, mockit, honkin. You'd need a penchant for the morose to extract any joy from the dilapitated interior. The 24-hour construction site outside made so much noise I overslept for my trip to Karakul Lake. The pits .

The Qini Bagh Hotel deteriorates as the new, adjacent hotel continues to be bulit while the present building receives limited attention. The front desk service is constrained by language problems, the breakfast has limited appeal to Western travellers, the rooms have a variety of 'technical' problems such as a flooding toilet, and there is a general air of disrepair. But... More

The basic problem is that this property is building a new hi-rise, 5-star hotel just across the parking lot (the construction noise makes a great wake-up call) and they have just given up on the existing facility. I was in two different rooms, and both featured a number of broken plumbing and electrical features and remarkably indifferent service. My requests... More

We stayed here for nine nights due to unforeseen circumstances. The room prices are displayed on the board in reception but the actual room rate is significantly lower (180RMB in the former British consulate or 280RMB in the main tower). It's worth negotiating a better price with the manager on day duty, especially if you're planning on spending longer than... More

This aged place really isn't all that. It does have a decent location, but they made me re-check in everyday. The staff was pushy and really didn't care. I learned that either some army men, or long-term Chinese informants where staying here because whole floors where filled with men in rooms that were packed with Chinese packaged foods, bikes, etc....
