This hotel in Mandawa was pretty cool because all the walls and shelves were molded out of cow patties and grass. They're long since dried and (i assume) sanitized so it doesn't smell and just has this really cool handmade feel. I even saw some ladies handpainting the motif around the doors and windows. They had a really pretty outdoor... More

Just returned from a lovely stay at the Desert Resort Mandawa. The place is good for a relaxing break with nothing much to do. We were lucky to have a spell of good weather and the mornings and evenings were very pleasant to sit in the garden and just relax. Food was good but the main thing was the service... More

A beautiful resort in a very beautiful place. The check in was smooth. So was the check out and everything else in between. The food is good. The buffets are not very elaborate but yet satisfying. The rooms are typical mud huts but with all modern amenities and great big bathrooms. Very comfortable. Service is great. No room service but... More

My heart really liked this place but my head said it was pretty awful! We only spent one night there as part of an excellent Riviera Travel holiday around the Golden Triangle. The welcome was wonderful - camels, horses, drums, trumpets and flower petals. Much of the accommodation is adobe style huts but ours was in a more traditionally built... More

A beautiful village of mud huts in the middle of nowhere Indian. The individual cabins are equipped with a huge bathroom, which includes both a bath and a shower. Furniture is not found in the huts. The bed, cupboards, shelves and chairs are built of clay. Indirect lighting in the thatched huts provide an idyllic atmosphere of comfort. Our cabin... More

This is an interesting and different place to stay in. Everything was fine for us, (late February, so not cold). As others have said, the mud and straw theme is both interesting, and different. Service was good, prices more Western than Indian! We had a huge room, with a large lounge and large bathroom, and a four poster bed. We... More

After two days in Delhi we arrived in Mandawa. As it was mid February it was still quite cold , especially at night. We stayed in one of the mud hut bungalows and we loved it. The design of the bungalow village is quirky with lovely little details. The bungalows are made in the traditional style of the desert people... More

One may say "in the middle of nowhere" when one sees at first time. I keep coming here two to three times a year. Built in, I guess with Moroccan style of Kasbah theme. Although built with the bricks but plastered with a mixture of dung of animals, mud and straw. Then its painted by the lime by the local... More

So first of all the negatives: we stayed in February 2013 and found the rooms absolutely freezing, particularly at night. I had to sleep with multiple layers of clothes on and was still freezing. They could also do with a clean; I understand this is India and it is dusty but the rooms were dirty and clearly never receive a... More

Interesting!!!! Small villas, prettily decorated and made out of dried cow dung with a thatched roof, typical of the region.  Very interesting designs. However, they were not very comfortable and in February - cold, humid and non too clean.......we were not impressed. The towels were wet and after we complained the subsitute towels were also wet!!! We asked for a heater... More
