The hotel is slightly strange, but wasn't helped by the fact that we were visited in low season. The room was very basic and quite hot despite the air conditioning. We did have a private balcony with a view of the sea which was lovely. Breakfast is not included and water is not provided. The bathroom was slightly dingy. The... More

We just spent two nights there and loved it! Felipe, the owner is a very friendly parson! Ask him first before getting wrong recommendations. Rooms are clean and nice. Very inexpensive! Get a boat trip to see flamingos, wildlife, salt mines and eat in San Felipe!

We enjoyed our stay at Rio Lagartos in the Hotel Villa de Pescadores. We had a balcony with a view and the climb on the stairs were not as bad, I thought, as some people had stated in other reviews. The rooms were very clean with comfortable beds and pillows. The restaurant was not open when we were there, but... More

We drove to Rio Lagartos without any reservation and stopped at the Villa de Pescadores to check it out. We liked it so much that we didn't look at the other places in town. Our room was immaculate, with a gorgeous view of the water. The king bed was the wonderful. As an extra bonus, the owner, Felipe Gonzalez, was... More

We loved the great view from our balcony overlooking the harbour and the Rio beyond, its worth upgrading to one of the better rooms for this alone. The owner was very helpful, including getting us a a guide for the park the next day. The restaurant was closed when we were there but we found others close by. Parking on... More

I don't want to exaggerate but I think the service and friendliness of the owner, Felippe, of this hotel has restored my faith in the service industry! He could not do enough to make us happy and our stay comfortable. The location is delightful in this sleepy village and the rooms overlooking the sea and the fishermen are delightful. The... More

Perfect location, beautiful view (stayed on the 3rd floor), in a clean comfortable pleasant room. Our hosts were very friendly and helpful. Even providing a light breakfast before a 6:30 a.m. Flamingo tour, which we only had to walk downstairs and across the street to get to. Rio Lagartos was the highlight of our 10 day stay in the Yucatan... More

Squeaky clean, sparkling room with off street parking and view over inlet where fisher people pull shrimp from the water in the evening and small fishing boats and bird watchers take off in the morning. Our host was charming and gracious, climbing the firemen's stairs to bring us special baked treats with morning coffee. It is French pressed, and don't... More

We stayed here for 2 nights. The rooms were clean and comfortable, with balconies looking out over the water. The town is a very quiet one, so we had a super restful stay. [The breakfast was pricey - I recommend trying a different place for that. And be warned that the coffee is charged per cup, so if you get... More

The hotel is in the PERFECT location, especially if you're a birder. Right across the street from the small boats and expert guides. The food is good, but not fancy or very diverse. The rooms are roomy and clean. Nothing fancy. The hosts are wonderfully engaged and helpful.
