The grounds/pools are beautiful and the breakfast was good/most staff were kind so I don’t want this to reflect poorly on them, but it felt like putting “lipstick on a pig” because the rooms themselves are disgusting. I stayed in 2 rooms during my stay. First room: as soon as I walked in after check in, I was hit with an overwhelming smell of mold. I looked in the bathroom and sure enough - mold was in the grout in the tiles, mold around various parts of the shower… the smell was so bad that I actually went to the store and purchased two febreze scent boosters in an attempt to mask the smell. I have traveled extensively and have never had to do that before. There were also slight stains on the sheets hidden under the pillows… but the worst thing? I went out for a 12 hour tour one day and when I came back and turned the lights on, there was a cockroach on the wall!!!! All the lights/power to the room goes out when your room key is not inserted into the slot on the wall, so I guess it was dark long enough for it to crawl out… don’t know where it was hiding, but there are MANY crevices behind the bed and surrounding the walls that more could be hiding in. I slept with the lights on every night for the remainder of my stay in an attempt to keep the cockroaches wherever they stay when it’s light out, which obviously was not comfortable at all. There is also no way it came in from outside, as no one came to clean my room for the entire week I was there despite me leaving my “please make up room” sign on the door for intervals of 3 to 4 hours while I was out, and I always kept the balcony door closed and locked tight. I tried to find another hotel to leave early, but had no luck, and I know that if one room in a hotel has cockroaches and mold - they probably all do, just with some better hidden… so wasn’t even worth it to try and switch rooms. I accepted having to suffer through my time here. A shame really, because the pool is great and I enjoyed spending time outdoors, but I dreaded going back to my room and felt dirty using the shower, and that’s kind of the whole point of a hotel - to have a comfortable room to come back to. If they can’t do that right, it’s not even worth the other amenities, no matter how nice the pool and staff are. Unfortunately, I booked a second room for a 1 night stay to come back at the end of all my travels for the convenience of storing half my luggage between smaller trips, and catching a flight out of Phuket. I booked this before I knew how bad it was and room was non refundable. This room didn’t have a moldy smell despite there being mold in the shower, but the bed had stains galore! One stain on the backside of a pillow was splattered brown and actually hardened/raised so that led me to believe the sheets weren’t even washed before I got the room. Also huge brown/yellow stains right on the front of the blanket on the bed - very visible smack in center so I have no idea why they were okay with leaving a bed like this. I also asked for a late check out since I arrived around 8pm (20:00) for check in and my flight home was the following evening, hoping I could sit in the air conditioning or have the privacy of my own shower if I spent time in the pool the morning of my flight, and they said no, that someone else was checking in the next day. A dumb excuse, as it’s a hotel… of course many people will be coming to check in. They said I could use the pool and the public shower room near the pool after check out though and could use the towels from my room. I was in a pretty standard room, of which there are plenty, so I don’t see why they couldn’t have figured it out to accommodate me staying an hour or two past checkout, as every other hotel does when this request is made - especially since I arrived 6 hours after check in, and they either don’t get around to cleaning the rooms here (if at all) until very late afternoon anyway. Upon checkout, there was at minimum 15 to 20 groups of people at the desk waiting to check out and suitcases everywhere. It was the most disorganized check out process I have ever seen. However this meant there were plenty of rooms now available and they could’ve easily accommodated my late check out request - they just didn’t want to be bothered. They didn’t even wind up getting through the line of people waiting to check out until close to 1pm. It would’ve actually been easier for them if they honored some late check outs… the maid I passed on the way to checkout with my pool towel and bath towel in my hands also gave me a hard time and didn’t want to let me take the towels with me, despite reception telling me I could take towels to the pool and shower. She seemed suspicious of me when I explained why I had them. Like seriously? No one is on the same page in this place… the last thing I want is to steal some half washed towels. Final issue for both rooms is that it is LOUD! You hear every single person walking past your door clear as day. There are also no sign posts telling you which way any important areas are such as pool, lobby, restaurants, cafes. Even the elevator doesn’t show which floor the lobby is on (it’s not level 1) which is pretty standard for elevators to have. There’s just such a clear lack of thought that went into everything here. Overall, I was disappointed and shocked that this hotel was the most expensive of my month long trip around Thailand. It was double the price and half the quality. I will make sure I stay somewhere else in the future unless they do major renovations.…
