Food, ambiance, decor and service all top rate. We have recently moved to the area and wanted to check out some good places to eat. As the Kings Head looks like a nice place from the outside, we thought we would first test the water by just arriving to have a drink ( and to "case the joint" ). First impressions... More

This is an old establishment so expect moving floorboards and dim lighting. We were seated in what appeared to be a the corridor in the dining room so traffic was heavy. I ordered Chicken starter as I live wild mushrooms but got venison, which to be fair was nice so I didn't complain. Salad needed dressing though. My main duck... More

We were made to feel very welcome and were given a delightful and comfortable room. The highlight, though, was the evening meal. The dining room was very busy and the staff worked so hard to make sure everyone was happy. We certainly were. The food was out of this world! One of those meals where each mouthful has about 17... We spent three nights here in two separate stays in Match / April. Staff were lovely, helpful and friendly, bedroom and bathroom both very clean and comfortable. Evening food very nice indeed, I knocked off one star because the full English breakfast we had on our third morning seemed to be a bit old and rubbery (at 8.30). Previous morning... More

We have eaten in this restaurant quite a few times now and each time it gets better. The staff are always very welcoming and will do anything for you. Very children friendly with a small children's menu but all excellently cooked and a good size. Both my children ate the lot! The food itself is excellent and of a very... More

Place full of pretentious people - cold atmosphere . Food was ok - though nothing special , my room was cold - furniture ok - but didn't have that homely feel . Was a bit like the film an American werewolf in London - everyone turned and stated when we walked in .

We stayed here for one night as we had an event in Winchester the next day. The decor in the room (Cromwell) was very tasteful and cosy. The room itself was fairly spacious and the bed comfortable and soft. It was cheaper than a lot of places in Winchester so very good value. It was exactly what we were looking... More

Cannot recommend this pub enough. Service, staff, food were all excellent Not a fancy menu, but pub grub at its finest. We travelled an hour to meet friends here and the drive was worth it. The staff couldn't do enough for us even entertaining the kids. Will definitely be returning - maybe to stay over next time

I stayed here for 2 nights. The accomodation was lovely and the bed really comfortable, perhaps though the room was a little too warm. The ensuite had a shower which was really nice. My welcome to the accomodation could have been improved slightly, in that I could not find the check in area and wandered around a fairly busy pub... More

I booked this inn for my partner's birthday weekend. Having looked at some of the reviews, it rated very highly and the unique selling point was the four-poster bed in one of the rooms. I booked through booking.com and selected the four poster bed room and I was looking forward to surprising my partner with this. We arrived early for... More
