Made very welcome despite having only a few words of French. Staff all tried to communicate with good humour. The receptionist even made chicken noises to try and translate the menu for us! Lovely restaurant but not open every night so had to eat in Chinon for three nights out of five - about 6 klm away and very good... More

We stayed a week at La Giraudiere in July. We rented a car to get around. It is a wonderful manor house in a patch of woods, pool, walking trails, close to too many castles to name. We opted for breakfast and dinner. Breakfast was fresh, fruit, bread, jam from a local convent and of course wonderful coffee. Dinner was... More

A really good location if you are sightseeing or cycling around the Loire. The hotel has seen better days and is a bit odd architecturally. We booked a twin room and were put in a 'mini apartment' at the top of the building with a door frame from a time when people did not grow as tall as they do... More

We thought the place was excellent.. more especially for the location - it was extremely good value for the money. The room was lovely. The restaurant - yes was local 'home' cooking. Served well. And at a very reasonable cost! The wines too.. of which there was an extensive range. Can't wait to go back! More

The location is excellent, the hotel is surrounded by Cabernet franc vineyards and it's only 5 km from the village of Chinon, which is lovely and well worth a stay. I got a spacious room with a balcony and it was very clean and quiet, the staff helpful and courteous - overall an excellent value. The only thing I wouldn't... More

We booked this hotel through the Logis de France web site and we were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the rooms. The food was good but unfortunately we stayed for 2 nights over a weekend when the oven had broken down so the choice of menus was limited. Overall the hotel was good value for money and situated in... More

Avoid the suite, which we tried and turned out to be a bit of a misnomer and a poor deal. There are surely better hotels in that area for the same money. Breakfast is rather lousy too. More

We discovered this place almost by accident when a lot of hotels we would normally stay at were full. This hotel is set in lovely parkland and located in a very quiet area. The bedroom was very large with a small bedroom set off it and a very modern bathroom. We had the top floor (attic) of an old house.... More

Room was comforable but the hotel needs sprucing up in places. The dining room was very attractive and the food was of excellent quality but spoilt by the emphasis on Nouvelle Cuisine and poor portions for the main course. Our prebooked reservation included breakfast but on checking out we were required to pay extra. More

The room was nicely decorated. We loved the restaurant at the hotel. Very good menu choices and service. We stayed here for over a week and were very comfortable here. The grounds were nice and relaxing. The staff are very friendly. They were happy that we tried to speak French with them and in turn they tried to speak English... More
