We spent one night here in March. The room was warm and clean. The beds were very soft, though as a couple we would have preferred the possibility of a double bed instead of only twins. The guesthouse had good WiFi, a nice common room, and a kitchen.

In the livingroom you will find a small library and varity of board games for those who like to enjoy reading, conversations or other peoples company.The rooms are for rent for a short or a long periods.Tjaldanes is located in the beautiful country side of Mosfellsdalur next to vegetable and flower farmers. A very famous vegetable market is open on Saturdays from mid summer to autum. Horse rental is in Laxnes in Mosfellsdalur. A home, now a museum, of our famous noble price winner, Halldór Laxness, a writer, is in a walking distant from Tjaldanes. This is an enjoyable site seen, seeing the house and its interior with guide tour around the house. In the summer time you can listening to concerts at this house.There is a short walking distant to a church at Mosfell and lots of good hiking roads around the valley. A nine hole golf course is close by and for those who are looking for adventure, you can look for Egill Skallagrimssons‘ silver. According to the history of vikings, Egils‘s silver is hidden in Tjaldanes. It has never been found, so guests are welcome to go looking for it!It takes only 10 minutes to drive to Skálafell which is a great ski area in the winter time and good place to go four wheel mountain biking in the summer time.
