Clean, very friendly and welcoming hostel. The owners and staff will go out of their way to help you. Good selection of accommodation - from camping, dorms, doubles with shared bathrooms and even ensuite - so can suit a variety of budgets. Has the added bonus of a bar at the other end of the property from the accommodation which... More

Very close to the Addo park. Good for a nights sleep. Interesting setting, friendly welcome from staff and other visitors. Bar with wifi. Clean kitchen with help yourself to coffee and breakfast facilities. You MUST experience the showers.

We did a road trip through South Africa with 4 friends and stayed one night in this hostel. Originally we planned on staying two nights close to Addo, but this was the worst hostel on our trip so we only stayed one night. We had a room right next to the road. Every time a truck deove by we could... More

even better than we had imagined. The staff were friendly as were the other guests. We were 2 and asked for a non dorm room. We were given a clean, well decorated, spacious room which slept 4 and which had a shower. Situated very close to the Addo Park which made it the perfect place from which to explore. I... More

The accommodation was quite nice. We stayed in a family room: 1 double and 2 separate beds. We had a private shower which was fine. It was clean, though the mattrasses could have been a bit better. The adjacent restaurant is run by a Canadian immigrant who's already living in SA for a couple of years (+10). It's really a... More

We stayed at Orange Elephant for two nights. Initially we were in the budget double which had four beds and was transitioning from a dorm. We had a "creature" in the ceiling above some insulation so we asked to change to dorm rooms. We were also only shown the outside diesel showers though we noticed after a day we were... More

Hi Micheal I am sorry about the mongoose that was in the roof of your room. Being in the bush and a rural area we tend to have "creatures" running around. The room you folk stayed in was a double with extra beds as we find a lot of folk traveling with friends want to rather share a budget room... More

We chanced upon this restaurant and what a find it is. The chef is experienced, competent and charming. The host is hospitable, happy and welcoming. The ingredients and wine are ethically sourced, and much home-grown organically. The ambience is warm, inviting and professional. That’s the bullet-point stuff out the way. So what’s it like, really? Well, it’s a place you... More

Friendly welcome, close to the Addo Elphant park. We put our tent up on the plot, close to the outside toilet, the showers and the kitchen. Kitchen could be used by everyone, was very complete. The shower has to be lit before using them, took about ten minutes to get some warm water. Really going back to basics. The restaurant,... More

Both hostels are well situated from the Park, this one being the closest. It's a large property with a separate restaurant and bar. The family's friendly, it's good value with breakfast included, the kitchen facilities are good, and if the outside showers are so-so you can use the one in the main house.
