In this area there are only two decent places for meals, The Rock is one of them. The owners Paul, Jennifer and the rest of the staff are friendly and always welcome us. The food is always well presented and of good quality. I have never had a bad meal at the Rock. The place is spotless and the little... More

Terrible experience. The food was awful, the service was bad, but above all else the manager's attitude was absolutely appalling. The garlic mushrooms were completely tasteless, the salad was stale and the fishcakes appeared to have been reheated. The mains were even worse, the sirloin steaks were bland, tough, overcooked, gritty and did not seem fresh. The chicken was so... More

We thoroughly enjoyed our Sunday lunch and the friendly welcome at The Rock. The meal was very fairly priced and the surroundings spotlessly clean and generally very pleasant. However, I was shocked to see a gollywog doll placed in a chair just off the dining area, and a slightly misogynistic "funny" sign hanging near the bar. What a trip down... More

We travel down from Hereford to meet friends here.Food was cold, the chips were under cooked the owners wife struts around like a little queen with her nose in the air looking down at everyone including paying customers, she's rude, condescending, arrogant and reminds me of Cruela Divil. She hates children and youngsters why I do not know. The Husband... More

We have just returned from a fantastic evening at the Rock. There were four of us, friends, we had a wonderfully warm welcome from the barman & the friendly owner. The food was lovely, and reasonably priced. They had live entertainment, of a piano player ... which was a little random with some of his tunes, but still brought great... More

Visted the Rock for New Years Day lunch. Food wasn't worth the money, not by a long shot. there are better places to eat food of that quality and quanity locally at more reasonable prices. Waitressing staff friendly, food came out quickly. Disgusted how the Bar Man spoke to my 2 year old daughter! Will never visit this pub EVER... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Your hosts Paul and Jennifer Taylor extend a warm welcome to you here at The Rock. The former winners of the Enterprise Inns National Pub of the year competition have put their plans to emigrate down-under on hold. Having taken on the tenancy of The Rock in July, they have completely refurbished the entire hostelry throughout. We offer an elegant, well stocked bar, choice of real ales, interesting selection of wines and some old fashioned soft drinks which all catch the eye as you approach. The menu is comprehensive, predominantly fresh food based, catering for both those on the move lunchtimes, as well as those who prefer to linger. Our specials are innovative and changed regularly. ... more   less
