I have visited Dominica many times, but this was my mothers first time. She suffers with Arthritis in her knees and hands, I had hoped that this trip would prove to bring her some relief. The hour half long trip from the airport was a tour in itself. We were welcomed with friendly smiling staff...and quite a few stairs to... More

Spend a few nights here and enjoyed it to the max! What a place and what a ride to get here in the first place. Friendly folks, near the Trafalgar Falls and our room was just huge, with plenty of space to store stuff, sit and a comfy bed as well. Our private hot spring plunge pool was a big... More

I first visited Papillote 24 years ago and was glad to see on my recent second visit that it has only gotten better. The Papillote sits at the end of a mountain road just inside the rain forest. It has real waterfalls powered by gravity and hot baths heated by nature; no fiberglass landscapes, pumps and water heaters here. The... More

I booked a room only about 1 month in advance and there was only 2 rooms at the lowest price available. After reading the reviews that some rooms were small and had odd views, I decided to take a chance and book anyway because the setting sounded amazing. Well, as I expected, the grounds were excellent and very well located... More

Papillote has been around for decades, slowly growing and evolving. Owner Ann joins crowds at dinner - her landscaping and gardening skills are amazing. It's almost at the end of the Valley Road to Trafalgar Falls (a short and worthwhile walk), very steep everywhere. Great exercise for legs and lungs. The altitude makes air conditioning unnecessary, and fans help keep... More

With a rare two week opportunity to travel alone, I seized the opportunity to head for Dominica, a trip I've been wanting to do for some time. My expectations were exceeded in every respect - if you are looking for an active outdoor experience, with an exceptional variety of hiking and spectacular natural sites, Dominica is a county you will... Suite #6 is the place to be. Just my wife and I were traveling but it was nice to have the extra room where we could spread out after living out of our suitcases elsewhere. Also, this suite has a spacious sun deck and the best view. On the deck is a small fountain running hot water. We had a... More

First of all, I need to preface this review with the fact that this was a reconnection with Anne, who I first met 30 years ago---long before she and Cuthbert developed Papillote into this level of HEAVEN. She was as sharp, witty, and stylish as I remember, despite her cold. The high points were the gardens, pools, hot baths and... More

My impressions of Papillote fall into three parts: the garden, the restaurant, and the rooms. But before I start on that, let me say that all the staff were friendly, charming, and mines of information! 1. The garden is as wonderful as everyone says; a little piece of paradise. Don't miss Marcel's garden tour, he will show you things you'd... More

A truly lovely place. Friendly, relaxed but efficient, superb food, and very child friendly. Our 2 year old spent her time walking up and down the many steps and slopes, in between collecting leaves and having fun in the various natural hot spring tubs. We enjoyed our little suite (double bed room plus a little single roon) and the adjoining... More
