I just spent four days at the Hotel Las Salinas, and have an associate there for another week even as I type. It's an absolutely charming small hotel with fantastic bay views, large rooms (although some things don't always work- such as hot water, sometimes the AC, etc) but in reality these are small things. “off the beaten path in the Dominican Republic”

The Las Salinas is definitely in a third world country. Hot water is not always available. No paper in the toilet etc. However, the owners are wonderful and very attentive.
