We tried to book a standard double. When I mentioned we have a baby, I was told under 6s are not welcome. They would make an exception but only if we paid for a deluxe room! we decide not to stay because of the bad attitude and also the other reviews talking about bad customer service.

Things could only get better after we were met on our arrival with the deathless greeting: "Oh. You were lucky there was anyone here." The woman running the show failed to rouse herself to much more enthusiasm than these enchanting words during our weekend stay (we were there for a wedding). In fact her manner rather reminded me of one... More

Welcoming and friendly hosts and a warm B and B, between Ivanhoe and Horton, south of Leighton Buzzard, alongside a canal for pre breakfast walks, with modern en suite facilities and comfortable beds, separated from main house except for breakfast, which is taken in the main house around a large farmhouse type kitchen table with other guests. Good choice of... More

Lord Brownlow owned land through which the canal passed. Just a few hundred yards on was the lock. He reasoned some boats would arrive and moor while waiting for lock to reopen, so he opened a pub and also provided pasture for the horses and stables where he kept replacement horses. Current family closed the pub in the 60s and... More

Stayed just the one night at the Brownlow on whim to get out of town for a day. Glad we did and certain we will return. Less than an hour from home, set in stunning countryside, the Brownlow is a gem. Huge room - worth paying the little extra for deluxe. Bathroom was bigger than some B&B's bedrooms and well... More

I stayed here for one night on 24th August as I was running the Ridgeway the following morning. You can easily walk to the start of the Ridgeway Trail at Ivinghoe Beacon from The Brownlow. The lady who runs it is really nice, great fun and I immediately liked her and her husband. My room, number 3, was lovely. The... More

My husband & I stayed here along with his 2 adult brothers. We had a double and a twin next to each other, in the renovated stable building. Everything was quite modern, and very clean. The bathroom was spacious, with new fittings. The bed was comfortable, and though we could hear a small amount of road noise from the few... More

A very welcoming place to stay, modern, clean and well equipped rooms, very comfortable beds, lovely en-suite with wet-room shower, very friendly hosts, excellent breakfast which seemed locally sourced, not your run of the mill cafe serve up. I wouldn't hesitate to stay again!

An extremely attractive place to stay adjacent to the Grand Union Canal. A bit in the back of beyond and only found our way there using street view maps beforehand and a satnav. We stayed in a stable block room which was very clean and well maintained. Television was wall mounted in the wrong position and could not be realigned... More

Stayed for two nights with some friends. Our room was very narrow and fairly dark. It tended to get very warm at night. The standard of fittings was very good and the bathroom fairly large. The breakfast was good with a choice of fish as well as a standard English breakfast. The owners were very friendly and helpfull and were... More
