this is an excellent place to stay, complete with pool and terrace, ideal for exploring merida and its surrounding area. the hotel staff were all very friendly and welcoming. i really don't understand the negative comments made by some other guests because we found them extremely helpful and informative. i would definitely go back there!

We stayed at Casa de las Columnas for several nights during our visit to Merida and were very pleased with the hotel overall. It is in a wonderful historic building with lots of character. The courtyard is lovely and a wonderful place to relax and read while waiting for your travelling companion to get ready or for escaping the heat... More

As part of a 3 week stay in Playa del Carmen, we rented a car and drove (about 5 hours) on the toll highway to Merida in Yucatan State. Casa de las Columnas is about a 15 to 20 minute walk from the central square. It has a charming courtyard for relaxing and breakfast, traditional rooms with antique furniture, and... More

This hotel was sipmly the worst place I have ever experienced. We were scheduled to have 3 rooms from Dec 28-Jan 2nd. Seeing that there are only 9 or so rooms and we were occuping 1/3rd of the hotel that they may just treat you with a little respect. Well that was sinply not the case. We were to have... More

We stayed here on our June 2011 honeymoon. We are not the best Spanish speakers and the majority of the staff spoke mostly Spanish but we got on just fine. The room was small but was just what we wanted. The breakfast was always fresh and just enough. We found the staff to be friendly, helpful, and unobtrusive. The building... More

The staff were very friendly and helpful but that is where it stoppes. Because I had booked a package for a week--and paid. Finding another hotel was not an option. The first night I had to get down on my hands and knees and wash all the floors they were so filthy==the water was black. The walls in the room... More

The only downside regarding this hotel is their small sign which made it very hard to find. However, once we arrived there we were very pleased to see the lovely colonial building, old fashioned yet stylish rooms, all surrounding the typical Mexican courtyard containing a swimming pool, and outdoor eating and sitting areas. The room price was great value and... More

Long way out but handy for ring road, park, zoo, big supermarket. Buses to centre $9. V friendly staff. Breakfasts a bit sweet. Lovely decoration and small pool. Free wifi but a long way (15 min walk) to nearest internet café. Merida centre ruined by traffic noise and fumes.
