3 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 May 2013 NEW

We spent one night in Merida on an excursion to the ruins at Uxmal through Royal Resorts (they own this hotel) and it was a letdown from the 5 star treatment at the Royal Haciendas in Playa del Carmen. It had the feel of a business hotel, the rooms are average and dated, and could use a good deep clean... More

The room had great views of Merida. There was a sort of serving hatch with a wash basin and fancy mirror, plus a full bathroom with another washbasin. His and Hers! It worked quite well. No mini bar. The coffee machine was good but you had to pay for the coffee for two and they only provided creamer for one.... More

I was attending a conference being held at this hotel in Merida and my wife and I spent 4 nights here. The room we had was pretty sad and crying out for renovation and a damn good cleaning. About the only positive comment I can make is that the room came with free WiFi, but that is it. The windows... More

This was a time share exchange and had everything we wanted except a peaceful night! Room, staff, location, food and services were excellent. However noisy music at night was disturbing but it might just have been because we were on the first floor.

I stayed here a total of 3 weeks in December 2012 and January 2013 in between side trips to the coast for scuba diving and to Cancun. These were exchanges through Interval and these were better than most I have gotten over the last 20 years and I exchange a lot. The hotel is in a great location, you can... More

We just returned from a week at this hotel, exchanging it for a two-bedroom unit. It was hard to find info about the unit in advance, so I hope this helps others. We liked the location, only a short walk to the square, good restaurants and shops--but if you don't like old, historic parts of town (we do), this may... More

We spent three weeks in Merida last Nov/Dec. We stayed at El Castellano and it was a very good choice. I must qualify this by saying that it was a perfect fit for us, in that we wanted a hotel that reflected a true sense of the Yucatan Peninsula and its culture, which in Merida is all over. The hotel... More

Spent 2 nights at this hotel, the seventh in our visit to Mexico. The room was well appointed, although you had to pay for the coffee pouches to use in the coffee maker, and was very clean. The location of the hotel makes it easy to access eateries and the main square. Staff were generally very helpful and the breakfast... More

This is my 3rd or 4th time staying at El Castellano. The hotel is clean and has all the amenities that you can ask for (including ironing board & iron) The overall room is pretty modern, flat screen tv with cable, channels in english, nice glass table, coffee maker, etc. The only complaint I can think of with this hotel... I stayed at the Castellano for a week on business. The hotel was chosen, booked and paid for me by another company. The room was on a non smoking floor, but the hallway had a strong odor of smoke. The room itself was very large and didn't smell of smoke inside. The location is great, very close to the zocalo... More
