I was SHOCKED to see a curt email in my inbox tonight very rudely informing me that the reservations I had made for myself and my senior citizen parents for early February (2weeks from now) will not be honored by the hotel, despite the fact that we made the reservations in December and have already paid a deposit. The email... More

Casa Mexilio is an amazing colonial mansion that's been transformed into a serious of guest rooms (all thematic..such as "Frida Kahlo" room) and stairs, pathways, nooks , crannies. I have stayed there two times...a couple of years apart. The first time, the place was full, and breakfast was served on the patio roof. Cooked to order Yucatecan breakfast. The rooms... More

We were so pleased to have stumbled across this gem of a hotel when looking for somewhere to stay in Merida. The attention to detail in the decor makes this feel like a really enchanted house, with bridge and doorways leading into magical dining rooms and balconies. Our room was also beautiful, with a great king size bed. Our only... More

We were very comfortable in the gorgeous Manual de Falla room for two nights. The house is charming, and the location is excellent for exploring El Centro on foot. Jorge and his asistant Guillhermo provided us with excellent service. We had everything we needed in the way of recommendations to nearby restaurants. Jorge was kind enough to let us borrow... More

Beautiful house and interesting decor. Comfortable beds . Nice and quiet in the rooms away from the street. Breakfast good but watch out for the trees overhanging the chairs in the breakfast garden. Dates fall on to the chairs and it's easy to sit on one by mistake. Sometimes they don't answer the doorbell and you have to go across... More

Ok so here's the deal. This is one of the most unique places I have stayed anywhere.Looking at the website and reading Roger's blog will be most helpful in answering any questions about the guest house and Roger and Jorge.( I am sure they are sick of answering the same questions over and over) Everything decorating this hotel has meaning... Who would not be seduced by Casa Mexilio's labyrinth, its maze of terrasses, staircases, beauty? Well appointed rooms, clean, good beds, hot water, good towels, great breakfast, nice gardens, cool pool. Good mercado a block away. And possibly the most atmospheric bar in North America, with music to match. So far the best margaritas I've had in Mexico, but I... More

Beautiful, beautiful hotel with history, I stayed Motel Marionetas before I stayed this hotel because of review I read Trip advisor, Casa Mexillo is much more nicer. Hotel staff are so kind and very good service, quiet and unique rooms plus just so beautiful. Breakfast is also quite nice, fresh fruits juice and eggs of your choice. Location is very... More

I had visited Casa Mexilio many times but this was my first time to stay, and I was not disappointed. The interior features inviting paths and stairways leading to secluded rooms on various levels, many with their own terraces. The vegetation is lush, with a lagoon-like pool, giving the place a feel that is at once tropical jungle, stately old... More

A most unique experience. We were sad to leave when we did and would definitely recommend Casa Mexilio. Anyone with an interest in history, antiques, gorgeous tile floors and a layout that would impress MC Esher, should not hesitate to stay here. Sure, you will get sweaty going up and down the many stairs, but Merida is sweaty anyway so... More
