The hotel is in a good location, in the center of the town. It took some time to find the hotel though because it was within a shopping hall. The room is clean with a pretty tiny bathroom. Staff there are nice and helpful. Overall, it was not a bad choice for the price.

I recently stayed at Hotel La Alhondiga and although there may be more confortable hotels in Puebla, and certainly ones that are more expensive it would be very difficult indeed to find a management and staff as exemplary. The location is wonderful in the centre of the historic part of the city - the zocolo. The building itself is an... More

The problem often with staying at downtown locations is to find a hotel that is a good combination of value, security, cleanliness and quiet, and Puebla was no exception. After looking at a half dozen hotels that were to noisy, pricey or unattractive, we discovered Hotel La Alhondiga. It is a little difficult to find, as it does not have... More

We stayed here on the weekend of Cinco de Mayo. The city was filled with Mexican travelers, the President of Mexico and many VIPS, and hundreds of police and military toting automatic weapons. The city was alive with celebratory noise until late each evening. This hotel is located on the Zocalo (main square and park in the historic center). The... More

The hotel is accessed off a three-story glass covered walkway or gallery (think Paris or Rome). It has been very recently remodeled and the rooms, while plain, are comfortable--although we had neither a closet nor a wardrobe. It is convenient as you walk out of the gallery onto the main square of Puebla. It's unique in that the rooms are... More

Liked the Service After spending hours looking for a hotel, we booked La Alhondiga through some fluke in their expedia system and they ended up overbooked. Still, compared to a lot of the hotels we called and/or visited, the people were very helpful and managed to work the situation out, though we had to change rooms after the first night... More
