There were many 'firsts' for us on this trip! First time in a float plane - what a great experience that was. First time on an island in British Columbia - what beautiful scenery. First time seeing Grizzly Bears - fantastic views and a lot less commercialised than other operators - small groups and our own viewing platform. But what... More

I think it was August 2003 when we first stayed in then the Knight Inlett Lodge. We visited Grizzly Bear Lodge in September 2007 after finding out when was the "best" time to see lots of bears. I am fortunate to have experienced some wonderful wildlife trips and there is no doubt that this one was truly amazing. The flight over by float plane and the delicious welcoming seafood meal, the very comfortable lodge set back... More

It’s very difficult to do justice to Angus and his team at the Grizzly Bear Lodge; suffice it to say that I have been there for the last 2 years and am booked to return again this September! It is worth every penny! I have travelled to some beautiful and very unusual places over the years, but nothing compares to... More

I don't really mean that because we can't wait to get back and experience this place again! Everything about our stay was amazing, and Angus, Krystle, Glenn, Madeleine, Clint (and Emily) all went out of their way to make this a unique and personal experience for all of us. Every part of our trip was impressive, from the boat ride... More

We stayed in mid September when the weather was glorious. This was to be the highlight of our Canadian holiday, and we were not disappointed. On arrival we were greeted by Angus and his staff and from then on we felt as part of a family. On our first day, we went to see the grizzlies which was a unique... More

This is a very special place run by very special people who understand the animals, the area and the unique experience they offer. Angus, the owner made for a very relaxed environment and was our grizzly bear guide, George - the whale whisperer took us to see whales and they were both fantastic with their knowledge of birds/fish and the... Put simply, this was one of, if not the, greatest places I have stayed. We were very lucky as was only the three of us staying. The views are staggering and Madelene cooked some quite fantastic food ably helped out by Clint. Suggest you diet before you go. The silence wonderful. Angus tried really hard to get us to see... The trip to the lodge is an adventure on its own! We left San Francisco and arrived into Vancouver by plane, got into a ferry to Nanaimo, rented a car to Campbell River, flew a seaplane to this amazing place called Minstrel Island and, on this tiny island in the middle of absolutely nowhere we checked in into Sailcone Lodge!...
